They are in need of replating, but I caught a glimpse of a Gillette Aristocrat a while back and wanted one. I went to a flea market today and low and behold there was a 1950s Aristocrat. Most of the gold is gone from the head and it is losing it on the TTO nob, but I got my Aristocrat:p I had to buy a Canadian made Tech too to get it, like the Aristocrat the plating is worn from the head but both are mechanically sound. $10 for both, I thought it was fair.

Found out today that my Tech is a 1938-1941 Early Tech, the triangular holes give it away, and that I was right about it not being the right case. The case is for a 1930s New Bostonian.

That's a great price and great find. I'm sure with your knifemaking skills you can clean these up beautifully. If you want, you can even go to the trouble of getting them re-plated. If you do, please show pics.

I am going to get them re-plated, its just a matter of finding the right place. The Tech cleaned up real nice, it has very little wear along the edges as can be seen in the pictures. The Aristocrat on the other hand needs to be re-plated, the gold is all but gone on the head and starting to leave on the handle. Both shave great, the Aristocrat is a bit more aggressive then I expected, and I am paying for trying it with a Feather blade:o
