Just want to share som wip pictures of this build, and finished knife in the bottom. I had conversations with other makers I know and follow myself, no one had seen this before so I took the name Hovinbolsterlock. I also talked with Michael Walker he also had never done this approach before, only the guy I know of that had this on hes mind was Michael Smith some years ago but he did not do it. So fun to finally come up with something new.

The feature is simple yet a nice solution for bolsterlock knives, the lock stay hidden behind the bolster even tho its the same piece, I hace cut the lock out from one piece. I had this on my mind for a long time cause I dont like to see the lock outside on a knife(that is why I normally build linerlock with hidden screw construction)

This can be done on a framelock or a bolsterlock. Only thing I must change in operation is to find a way to cut shorter horizontally so that the lock stop in profile 90 degrees and dont continue a bit upwards.

Thanks for watching and maybe comment.

best wishes Glenn.

NB. this is like 10% of wip processes, dont have all photos here but most are on IG. this is also the thinnest hidden screw build so far, scales are .074" thick with ti inlay and threads. still ogt enough room for hidden lockbar as well. happy about this build

it was a auction knife, now sold.

that's damn impressive.

Great job.....I would like the 'sharp edges' to be 'softened' a bit more if it were for me. ;)

Were the knife and the small wheel attachment built by the same person? The knife is incredible.

I would definitely carry/use that one. Clean lines, simple but elegant.

But I could never afford it.

Thank you gentle men

Most of my equipment is self build also, just because my wallet is what it is.

ya the purpose of the knife was exclusive yet a knife you want to use and carry. (edc)

I normally full contour handles like my mentor Stan. But this knife is very thin and the scales is just .074" thick in perspective.

again thanks for feedback.

hello sir and thanks for the question

Yes the grinder and all with it is built by me. I have a full video on my YT channel. just search hovinknives. thank you

Very intriguing build and design. I'm completely with Dawkind on the personal preference on the sharp edges, but I understand.

More to my point: I would LOVE to see the tool you use to assemble and remove that scale from the well.

In order: Scale removal, then you can access the other fitting screws?

Thanks for posting all the informative images. VERY worthy.

Jim

You might try a smaller dia slitting saw if you are trying to minimize overcut when splitting the lockbar from the bolster
