Finished it yestarday. Blade handforged by Jukka Hankala (Finland), Silver steel,
6 1/32" (150mm) X 1" (25.6mm) X 7/32" (6mm) (diamond shape - it looks thiner).
Blade is longer and bit bigger then authentic Pukko - by my request.
It wait for 2 years to make it - until fill comfortable to provide proper handle,
now time is come - I think I have enough skills (don't know how to make sheeth yet):

Thanks, Vassili.

that's a gorgeous knife. it sorta looks like an east/west fusion to me, kind of like a modified mini katana. very nice work, you could command a pretty penny for something like that.

What HoB said.

Vassili, what is up with 'Silver Steel'? How much silver content and how does this effect strength and edge holding ability?

Thanks!

Timing:
I wait for the blade 6 monthes (you can buy smaller "ready" blade at http:/www.brisa.fi or from Hankala himself http://www.hankala.com ).
I wait until I'll be ready for this job about 2 years.
Making - One evening (after work) to make bolster
One evening to drill and glue handle
One evening to shape it with Drimel
One evening to sand and add polish

It can be done in one full day I think, but I am not rushing.

Before forming:

Did not use it yet. I cut only my finger slightly, but it is shaving sharp from the begining till now.

Great looking handle! If you make knives that are too pretty, you might not want to use them for fear of scratching them :D

Beautiful knife you've created!

What kind of wood did you use on the handle? It looks like Bocote or even looks like some Zebrawood I have drying. It's great looking at any rate.

Great job!

Sorry I forgot about wood - it is Massacar Ebony. Ebony is not always black, there is even wight ebony. This one looks like Zebrawoo, but it is bit gentle in colors and stucture is finer, it is harder and take great polish, starts shining after I applied pipe polish to it (great stuff from tobacco shop, Carnauba and Silicon).

2 yuzuha

You right - this is exactly the filling I have about it... But I will use it, what the poin having great blade and keep it safe under glass!

Thanks, Vassili.

After reading that you could bowl me over with a feather!
I would NEVER have guessed that.
It certainly makes a great statement on your blade. It's the most beautiful piece of Ebony I've ever seen.

Great knife, Vassili!

Well, excuse me my English, this things happen to me time to time... let me correct myself:
From Hardwood Fact Sheet...
"Macassar Ebony - Diospyros celebica.
One of a group of ebonies from the East Indies, ranging from Sri Lanka to Indonesia. Sometimes called Golden Ebony for its grey to yellow sapwood. Macassar Ebony is a closegrained, heavy (68 pounds cubic foot) hardwood known by beatiful black and yellowish-brown coloration in its plain sliced grain pattern
Southern Lumber Co. (408)294-1487"

Thanks, Vassili.
