Hey Guys..
Just wanted to share my cool new cheap knives.. I think I may have $30 bucks invested in the both of them.
The first one is a folder that caught my eye and wanted to try it out as a victim for a Wave feature Mod..
Here it is in the stock form.. It's a Mtech 440 steel blade, Skeleton handle, and cool Urban type camo
Sorry about the bad pic .. I didn't take many of it before I tore into it Changing stuff
So I began first by taking it apart and polishing the pivot area on the blade to smooth up the action.. And all the black hardware to a mirror finish.. I thought the scales were plastic but after closer inspection, it is sure enough G10..Very cool
Then I went after the top tang and took my dremal and a cut off wheel and began work on the wave hook..
Then had to make it a tip up carry for this to work, (if it even would work
Fingers crossed!!!) so I drilled and tapped it with a different style pocket clip, other than the cheap one that came on it for tip up carry....
I even got an Idea off here after reading about the Tip/Trick with the new G10 scale Leek and grinding a recess in the G10 scale to better access the thumb stud and did the same thing to this one as well.. Great tip!!! works a whole bunch better when opening it with the thumb disk..
Then came the testing phase.... WOOOO HOOOOOO!!!
works like a charm!!!!!!!!!!
I even think it works better than my Emerson Mini CQC-7..Hmmm But I bet my Emerson can cut this one in half lol.
I was kinda worried about the location of the wave being so far at the back of the blade.. But this seems to have had a great effect on it instead.. Fast or slow draw it opens every time.. What a Buy!!!
The second one is a Butterfly / Balisong knife ..
I was really wanting to try one of these out again.. I have not touched one since I was around 16 (now 33) and after being on here and seeing them pop up on the post all the time.. I had too search for one that I could have that day and take home and play with.. or maybe chop my fingers off with.. .. lol .. Anyway, junk or not I was buying one dang it ..
I looked at a bunch of them and wanted something that wasn't total junk. Something I could take apart and service if possible, so it had to have screws.. Most of them I saw were junk with the pins holding everything together.. And then low and behold I saw one with the same exact tiger stripe camo.. And then I saw the pins were allen heads, What luck.. WOO HOOO.. and only $17.99 lol and even came with a cool (junky) kydex/plastic type belt sheath..That will set on top of my computer desk and collect dust...... Anyway I have tightened the pivot's up with loctite and coated the plastic washers with a few drops of Militec 1 and wow this thing really rocks for a cheapie.. And .. And, I even remember how to flip it after all these years with out even loosing a finger or a drop of blood..
So Here it is.. in all it's glory haha,, The knife came in a box with Kanji writing on it.. so I am not really sure who makes it.. I think Maybe Superior Knife Co. or something.. it is 440 blade steel also and not sure what the handles are.. but it feels really nice flipping it. not all cheap like I would had thought with a price under 20 bucks ..
Thanks for looking and I know there are going to be some people that might see this and say :thumbdn: :barf: or even
lol
But for what it's worth .. I am pleased with my purchase and Hope to one day get a BenchMade Balisong unless this thing holds together for a while.. I just wanted it to see if I even liked them still.. I know I wont be EDC'ing it anywhere (Laws Prohibit that here) but for fun it is a really neat knife..
And as for the Waved Folder I am sure it wont hold and edge like My Benchmade Mini AFCK or my Mini Emerson but Dang G10 scales and feels like a really nice knife and now is even tip up carry and waved.. all for under $11.99 lol .. I'm Pretty impressed with it..
Take care and thanks for looking..
Jeff
