Hey guys.

Haven't had a lot of time lately, but I wanted to get some pics up of the last trip, we did some training through the week, then had a mock search at the end. We traveled 70km up the river, and we supposed to meet up with a group of quaders, but they got to a river they couldn't cross and it ended up being 8 of us that had to carry our victim just under a km.

Anyways, here are some pics, the camp site, the river, and my shelter for the night.

My shelter.
I used AMK stuff for this. They worked great, we had high winds, rain and all the fun stuff. They held up great, didn't get wet and had one of the better night sleeps I've have in a while.

Had a great trip overall, got some well need courses, and met some great people. Plus I get payed for it!:D

Any questions, let me know.

Looks great Fonly. Gotta agree on the Falcon II - also the best pack I've ever had/carried. I'm assuming your Heat Sheets shelter was the large size and you had another as a ground cloth? Is that a poncho liner at the bottom of your shelter or a sleeping bag (different from your base camp?). How did you carry it in your pack?

Looks like a blast. I remember in my Wilderness First Aid class, I was the chunky one, so whenever the scenario involved carrying a victim up a hill or stairs, I was usually chosen as the designated fat guy that you have to carry ;) I quickly learned to wear pants with solid belt loops and a decent leather belt!

Excellent stuff, Fonly, thanks for posting. Looks like you had a great time, and the weather seemed pretty decent.

I was just taking stock of my PSK, and considering the idea of upgrading my emergency shelter supplies. Your photos have tipped me over the edge - I'm not sure that my little space blanket and drum liners would be optimum in a high wind situation, so I'm going to seek out a more suitable emergency shelter.

All the best,

- Mike

Hey guys,

Thanks for kind words,

This is my Patrol, we specialize in natural disaster, SAR, all the things that most dont want to deal with. Most of the time im out as civi SAR, but when the province wants to use military, they call us. Which is fun, well, you know what I mean.

Yeah, There is a certain amount of gear they want us to carry, but its stuff an normal woodsmen would have, fire, first aid, signaling, things like that.

The shelter was great, I used that bag liner, which is standard issue, works great, actually too hot for that time of year. For the shelter though, I carry two AMK 2 person heatsheets, and one bivy. That would have worked fine, depending on time of the year, I would need more natural debree, but over all its a perfect set-up, more than covers things If I need to spend a night in the woods.
