Looks good dude. Any family history behind it or is it something you purchased 2nd hand? I know your thread title says "my latest" but I guess that could still mean it was handed down to you..

I love how the blade looks like it have an ever so slight recurve. Very nice.

It does look like that but I wonder if it's an optical illuuuusion created by the soft surface is lying upon?

The belly in the blade is from sharpening, see it often in used knives. The cut down and modified Collins model 15 sheath is interesting.

Looks like a shorty...

It's not a shorty, it is a fairly early original WW2 7 inch blade MK2. If it has no marks on the pile (back) side of the blade it was originally likely one of the few with the bluish phosphate coating rather than the grey parkerized coating. The sheath is a cut down modified Collins model 15 sheath also likely done during the war.

Hi All,To answer a few questions, this was left to me by my nieghbour in his will.He wanted me to"give it a good home".He got this from an American he new during the war, thats all I know. The blade has a slight recurve to it,but looks more due to the way its sitting, and is very sharp! This piece also has a thick pommel which is peened on,so I put the date at late '42 or early '43 at a guess. The blade is marked "KABAR" on one side and "USN MK2" on the other. It also looks to be blued and not parked.Handle is tight,no loose bits.As for the sheath, yes a Collins and Co sheath.Others would know more about this than I,but this is what it came with, and I guess it was a field expedient one made to fit from whatever was at hand. The original was probably lost or just fell apart, either way,a nice piece.Thankyou all for your comments.
