Thanks for looking!

That came out awesome!

Was hoping this was going to be a certain camp/bowie knife designed for cutting branches and Funoodles with the backup capability of being able to handle actual work. :)

Great grinds and blade profile, however seems if the handle was a little thicker it would be more proportionate to the large blade. Nice piece.

It is definitely influenced by Walter Brend, as interpreted by a fine 'smith, and whoever got it is one lucky camper.

In the photograph it is hard to see the grind lines cleanly, it must be the lighting?

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Very nicely done Philip. I also see a Brend influence - and I think that's a good thing in this case. Gorgeous wood. A smiling customer is all but guaranteed.

Yes, I probably should have made it thicker, and I would have, if they would make the corby bolts a little longer.... ;) I think the butt especially would benefit from being thicker, and I probably could have done that.

Yes, the lighting is not the greatest. My light box has lot's of "hotspots". A new one is on my to do list...
And yes, definitely a lot of Brand influence.

I love the blade but wonder if you possess small hands?

I think my hands are about average. Let me measure.... With my fingers spread all the way, it's 8.5" from the end of my thumb to the tip of my little finger. I don't know if that's average or not.
Do you think it should have been longer? Both the thickness and width are as much as I could manage, given the length of the bolts, and the fact that the guard has to slip on over the butt end.

Very nice. The serial number looks much better.

Thanks! They (the numbers) do turn out once in a while....

I think it is great and one of the only styles I like that needs a recurve. Man you do a great fighter.

a 5.5" handle is not small, Anthony.

Not just the length (Which may be OK) but the width and thickness are suspect. Love the blade..not sure of the handle..

Philip, don't be a slave to the BOLTS..take that blade and make it stick tang, one piece handle, single pin
Make the handle fit the blade...not the handle fit the bolts..

Nice effort

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and share some constructive criticism:o
Here I go;

-The choil seems to me to be too large lengthwise

-Width across the ricasso is a smidge fat, a slightly slimmer profile here might be nice

-The recurve seems to go a little deep, either that, or where it meets the choil drops too far down

-Lanyard hole is either too big or in the wrong spot

-If a fighting knife, 440c is a great choice.

-I'd like the top swedge to come further back towards the ricasso

And my personal preference would be for a slight S shaped guard.

I dig the handle and the overall profile. It looks well made and seamless. The finish is super nice, that blade seems to shimmer.

I really love most of all your knives I've seen in here. I hope my comments are taken as they were intended, and as my personal opinions, keeping in mind I'm certainly no expert. But you asked for constructive criticism, so...:)

was this helpful, interesting or at least entertaining?
