Sometimes the liner doesn't flex out far enough so it doesn't lock what can i do to fix this?

If the liner wont move over enough to make positive contact with the blade the first I would check to make sure your pivot is tightened adequately. If you can wiggle the blade side to side and feel a knocking your pivot is loose and will need to be tightened. If however you still arent making contact then the liner will have to be bent more so that it will contact. This of course would require it to be disassembled. Care needs to be taken not to bend the liner more than needed. If you bend it too far the knife will be incredibly hard to close and may cause unnecessary drag.

Return it.

If it's too old you will probably have to take it apart and GENTLY bend the lock bar some more. It worked for me with an old Timberline Worden.

I've taken some apart myself and bent the bar over with good results. As mentioned, little at a time.

If it's a newer or more expensive knife, I'd send it in for repair, or contact the dealer to see if they'll swap it out for you.

I've had this happen with some brand new liner locks. Took a little fiddling with the pivot and a few cycles to break in. If this doesn't work, send it in for repair/replacement (depending on what it is and where you got it).

Yes, it likely just needs breaking in. Snap it open HARD several times and keep working it. I've had the same problem a couple of times and working it usually has self corrected the problem. A little oil in the pivot may help also.
