All the handles are made of ash wood and are all users. But for sure, not the handle of Fiskars splitting axe ;) I just added new handles on every of them. I had a lot of wood work to do, so most of them broke during hard work. Some of them are pretty old.

How do you like it?

Kind regards
Andi

Nice...Looks a bit damp there Andi. Bet they all got a wipe with an oily rag before being put away. Nice to see those patterns.

Great set of axes. I especially like the haft of that hewing axe. Is that something you bought or one you made yourself?

None of the hafts is bought. They are all made by myself. I have a friend who is carpenter for furniture and I can use his machines. Like wood drilling machine and so on... The a re all placed on the haft with a cross cut for the woodenwedge. That´s my sunday-afternoon hobby.

Kind regards
Andi

You're doing some fine work, Andi.

Thank you for the nice words, guys... I´m trying to do my best... ;)

Some of the axes are pretty old, so I try to keep them in some traditional looking :)

Kind regards

Nice pieces, Andi. Impressive work on the handles! As mentioned, that goosewing is phenomenal!

Hi guys!

Thank you for the replies!

The Ochsenkopf Forest Axe is the heaviest axe I´ve seen so long on an axe and a tool which is not called a hammer ;) The handles break easily with this pattern. It has 1.600 gramm head-weight, that´s round about 56 ounces (avp system), I don´t know which system you guys use in the US. Every other thing is then a splitting hammer. I have also one, but that´s at my dad right now. I can show it off, if you guys want

Here´s a pic of the Ochsenkopf Forest Axe I meant...

Hi!

With the sledge, do you mean the heavy hammer? (I don´t know what sledge means)

It has round about six kilogramm. It´s a pretty heavy tool. I use it for splitting timber, shorted at one metre with a wedge made of steel. I reduces the weight of the bigger timbers and makes great fun ;)

Kind regards
Andi
