In the early morning hours of April 11, 2004 (Easter Sunday) I was the lead Gunner on a HMMWV escorting our Battalion Commander, LTC Myles Miyamasu from Camp Black Jack to BIAP (Baghdad International Airport) When my HMMWV was hit by a road side bomb. I will leave out the details but suffice to say it was enough to send me back home and forced me out of the Service. I still have a few pieces of steel left in me here and there and was laid up in the hospital for the better part of a month, but I am the picture of health now (except for the man gut from too many late nights with the HOGS)

So to celebrate, I am going to give a piece steel away. Not any of my cherished pieces of Shrapnel, but a Blade...to be announced on the 11th of April. My disability doesn't pay enough to give away expensive blades, but I hope you will be happy with it regardless. If by some means a Box of INFI shows up on my door....I will let you know.

The Game is simple.

Guess how many stitches and or staples I received.

The person with the correct number wins. You get 1 guess and NO EDITING, if you change your mind......tough $hit!

I am putting links up to the other Forums, so all post must be done here.

Good Luck

Hey brother. Thanks for your service. I'm one of those guys that served during the War but never saw the sandbox, and have great respect for yourself and my brothers in arms who did.

Gonna go w/ 42 stitches and staples. You're the man.

Gravelface, I didn't know you were prior service, Army? I guess army from blackjack and BIAP, I'm an active duty Marine, and trust me brother I know what you're talking about, I was the lucky one in my team, so I am truly sadened to hear about this, but I am happy you are alive and well,
SEMPER FI!

160 . . .

And I'm sure it's been said, but you should send some of the shrapnel to Jerry to be forged into a knife (shrapnel/INFI damascus)

Glad to hear you're better, and thanks for your service

Yes, 4 years in 1st Cavalry Division.....served along side some Marines in the Cemetery City of Najaf.

How about 179. Thank you for your serving our country, thank you for letting me be free, God Bless.

Thank you for your service. It is too easy to forget the freedom which has been bought for us by the blood of our brothers.

I will guess 42 stitches/staples

for you, jason,

It is the soldier, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the soldier, not the campus organizer,
who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the soldier
who salutes the flag,
who serves under the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag,
who allows the protester to burn the flag.

thanks for serving, GF. put me down for 107. hopefully that's high, stitches and staples suck, especially given the circumstances under which you received yours.

Winston
