Hi guys first post here in the Rat Cutlery Forum, been reading pages and pages:D

I just wanted to share a pretty simple mod, that was the first thing that came to my mind the first time I held my Izula. Well the first was getting the supplied para cord wrapped, following the paper instructions.
Anyways I'll let a couple pictures do the talking.

Really gives a much better grip!

Looks good but too much chance for rust IMO. Even use is not going to keep the grooves worn enough. Guess you could oil it.

I did a similar file job on my RC3. Soaked the bare metal in vinegar. The patina seems to protect it fine. I have the knife in all sorts of conditions and haven't had any problems with rust.

Nothing wrong with that. I'm curious what you did it with as well. I'm sure one of the mini files would work.

Thats awesome. I had a similar idea myself, thanks for the pics!

The sharper you make those notches, the more of a stress riser you create when you start stressing the knife. Personally, I wouldn't do it.

Thats where my thumb gos 99% of the time

I've stripped my Izula and as yet have no rust issues though.

I was thinking the same when I though of doing it to my Izulas.
I was still contemplating, but now I'm sure that I'll keep it as is.
Thanks.

R.A.T. I have a very small rat tail file that I could radius the bottom of the grooves slightly, would that negate the stress riser you speak of?
