Blade shape
  • good all around blade shape for just about everything (in my opinion) the recurve makes for a great slicer. I use it for yard work quite often and it flys through small branches and just about every thing else I can throw at it for that matter. the only downside to me is it's a bit of a challenge to sharpen, it would be fairly easy if I had a sharpmaker/lansky though.
*because of the recurve the actual cutting edge will be slightly longer than 4".

blade shape (sorry about the mediocre pic)

Lock
  • It is a liner lock, and a very stout one at that. No blade play up, down, left, or right. Very smooth, and it doesn't stick. The detent is quite strong on my example (giving it a great flipping action)

Pocket clip
  • The 0200 uses the standard Kershaw/Zero Tolerance clip. good retention. It Tends to tear up the pockets after awhile. Over all it's a great clip.

Ergonomics
  • like most Ken onion design the ergonomics are excellent, it really locks into the hand and is quite comfy. The texture on he G10 along with the thumb ramp/jimping really help keep it in your hand. I've heard some people find the choil uncomfortable, I haven't noticed any discomfort and I would guess its more due to bigger hands (which I do have so maybe I'm just part of the minority)

Steel
  • The steel is 154-CM. good edge retention, corrosion resistance (especially with the DLC coating) and easy to sharpen.

Deployment
  • Very easy, the over sized thumb studs work like a charm and the flipper works great!

Random points I want to touch on

solid steel pivot (it's not hollow)

perfect centering

large finger choil allows a lot of access to the thumb-studs

What you get
  • an AMERICAN made knife for under $150 using premium materials with one of the best warranties out there (under $100 if you get a blemish)

pros
  • lanyard hole will easily accommodate paracord
  • Ergonomics
  • Price
  • Steel
  • Handle material
  • Build quality
  • it's cool
  • everything else

cons
  • The clip can shred your pocket.

I love this knife and would buy one again. It makes you feel safe and just a little BAD@$$! Why do I like it? What? You seriously didn't read all the stuff above this Sentence?

Gosh darn it , I can stop looking at the zt 0200kw satin blade on sale $125.00, I already bought a knife today,

I got to think this out, but it looks so Kool , thanks for the review

Excellent review Niner! One thing I would change is the pivot is actually a 3/8ths SAE standard. And something else to mention is the 4" blade, with recurve, adds a little to the cutting edge.

Excellent pictures included with your review
Perhaps you could add some in-hand shots?

I've never gone for these ZT's because a) the size / bulk / profile (width/height even when closed) discourage pocket-carry, and b) I'm not a fan of liner-locks outside of gentleman's knives. *shrug*

A point on terminology: the "choil" is the indentation at the heel of the blade, at the junction between cutting-edge and ricasso (where the flipper is). You seem to be describing the finger-groove in the handle, not a "choil" at all. "Choil" does not mean "groove" and is not located anywhere other than the heel of the cutting edge.

Just gave one to a guy going into the Marines. Might have to get another! Thanks for the review.

I edc a pro tech tr4 with no problems, sometimes I like a big knife. Yesterday I had my delica in my front pocket doing yard work, when I came in the house it wasn't there. I knocked the knife out of my pocket, and had no idea , cause I can't feel it in my pocket at all.

I remember when you first got the 0200, you were so excited! Great review, and nice pics of the used blade.

Great pics, even greater review, good job Kirby! i cant wait for mine!

Sweet! I'm glad you liked it:)

Reference the links above if you want to know how I would handle the situation you're in;)

Thank you! And I'll try and get some later today when I have better light:) (it's cloudy/rainy so that might have to happen tomorrow) and I suppose you're right:) I just couldn't think of a better word/phrase.

Props to you! And you should:D

Great knife. Sometimes just too bulky and heavy for the days activities though.

True, mine is more of a yard work/camping/outdoors knife. Still gets carried now and then when I'm in the mood haha!

You won't have that problem with the 0200 lol...if it catches something you pants might come down with it:p

Oh, the nostalgia:D
