Wanted to try this pattern for sometime now, but could never find a deal on one. So I found this Parker Cut Co. knife on the bay, not bad made in Japan descent steel. So I dyed the bone, too more of my liking and here it is. Great snap no blade wobble... Going into my pocket now.IMG_1704.jpegIMG_1705.jpegIMG_1706.jpegIMG_1707.jpeg

24 hr. report great carry, but kinda heavy.

Anyone else ever carry this model ? Case or other ?

I have something that Rough Rider called a "Half Hawk". It's pretty nice for when you want a big, heavy knife.

What is this descent steel of which you speak? Waiting for Larrin to check in.
If it's a Parker knife, then it's most likely "Surgical Steel", whatever that is. ;)
Probably good enough for a pocket knife to cut stuff with.

What R8shell said not sure what Surgical Steel is, but it took and edge and has held its edge during box and tape duty.

Love that pattern.
The large blade was for being hammered to cut thick cord, just as with the Navy knife.
The extra-long pen blade could be used for reaching into confined spaces to cut specific threads.

Apparently KaBar (Union Cutlery) also made the same pattern in the 1930's. It also was called a "Loom Fixer" and they trademarked the name in 1934:

The owners of RR have a strong familial tie to Jim Parker, who at one time owned Case and later did "Parker Knives". So RR likely has access to many old Case patterns that Case no longer makes.

Here's my RR Half-Hawk

Congrats on the new knife!

Parker likely contracted to have AUS 6 on his Japanese knives. Very stainless. Fine grained due to small additions of Vanadium and Molybdenum in the alloy. Takes a fine edge. Commonly used for kitchen cutlery in Japan. Not the most abrasion resistant, but still makes a good steel for pocket knives.

I like the RR Half Hawks; they remind me of the Loom Fixers. And coincidentally, I have a smooth tobacco bone model like Rachel's, a denim micarta model like John's, and a Coal Miner model, like Frank's.🤓 And I don't think they're so heavy to carry (but I always have my pockets filled with all kinds of stuff:rolleyes:).
