Well, it has been a while, but my new job and new nephew-and-neice have kept me busy except for sporadic visits. However, I just traded my e-Nap to Pendative for a GRS by Kumar and I wanted to do some raving.

Most of you know that I am a great lover of the MA and Combat style Khukuri, hence my affinity to Kumar. But, I have always wanted a "chopper", though most of the stuff I have owned just didn't feel right in my hands. When Dan placed his GRS up for trade, I remembered that he wanted an e-Nap sometime before Christmas of last year, and so now I have an 18 inch GRS.

This is unlike any Khukuri I have ever owned. Maybe it's because Kumar likes to "shave" the ounces, but this GRS handles more like my 22 inch Kobra. It is extremely well balanced, it doesn't strain the hand, which I found to be my problem with the 18 inch Ang Khola. And I like the way it flys and hacks into my targets!!

How's this for an image: GRS on my right hip, 22 inch Kumar Kobra on my left, Kimber Compact in my Galco crossdraw, and my M1 Tanker pointed toward toward immediate danger!! And all on a short, fat, buck "nekkid" Filipino!! Gawd, even I find that sort of hilarious!! :footinmou

Any way, just wanted to let everyone know that I think that Pendative "is a right good dude" and I am really happy that I finally have my heavyweight blade -- or at least as heavyweight as Kumar will build them!!

Rene would you mind clarifying this statement?

Maybe I'm misreading it, but my initial reaction is Damned:mad:Mad:mad:!!!!

M1 Tanker! Lord, I had one of those once. Springfield has made them in the past, and now offers them again.

I wish I could get a 1903 and M1 Garand from CMP but I'm 17 and not in a gun club.

Garands are grand. You only have a year to wait. Garand's have been around for 50, they'll be around in a few more months too.

Got to thinking and realized that Rene may be Filipino himself and was funnin himself and didn't mean anything derogatory about his reference to a buck nekkid Filipino.
At least I hope that's the case.:grumpy:

DeathDancer sounds like you could join grandpa on a raid:D

Though you may wanna put some pants on at least.:p

Rene,

You are indeed welcome! Glad to see the BGRS found its way to a good home where it will be appreciated. That was a tough one to let go. It would whistle every time I unsheathed it. However, it was never really used much and that's why it went.

You may remember a newbie who posted a few weeks back about which 18" khuk to get and I told him to get a BGRS, but nobody else seemed to agree...?!?

Well, count yourself amongst those that "understand"...;) :p

In all honesty, I really loved that 18 incher and had high hopes for it. By the time I got around to really getting ready to use it, Big Brother came home (in the form of 22 inches of Bura-made GRS)...

Now that one has duty written all over it. I swear I can hear its muffled screams as I lay down to bed...crying to be used. Even my wife is in awe when I unsheath it - she absolutely loves the craftsmanship. It's the best-made khuk I have. The rest are all mostly "rejects"...

Which brings me to my next point...

Thanks for the E-Nep. I've made a few, ahem, modifications...

I'll post pics tomorrow. :D

Yvsa,

I can see where you might misunderstand my attempt at "self denigration" ;) However, I thought everyone knew that I was from the Green Isles of the Philippines. Born in Cebu on Cebu, though I was raised in the United States.

Like most of my countryman who persist on eating "American style", I have an overly developed "table muscle", so a "nekkid" picture would be somewhat funny! :D

However, I do love my M1s (Tanker and standard), and I think that John Browning had a winner in his 1911. Still trying to decide on the khukuri I want to carry, though....

It's difficult to tell one's ethnicity on forums. I didn't know there were so many Vikings here until I saw some of the pics.
