Hi one of my favorites outdoors knife is Martinii 511.
The knife is very strong and light but the shealth that comes with is rubbish (soft plastic).
I DIY kydex shealth, you can see I have attached cord to create molle compatible attachment.
All set up is 100 grammes ...light set up ;-).

Martinii make a much nicer version of that with a solid leather sheath. Prices seem to vary hugely here though. Some places want upwards of £50 for one whereas others will sell one for not much more than your version on another site. Anyway, the knife looks like this -

The shiny metallic guards on those are plastic, if memory serves correctly.

I remmember 511 has forged carbon blade and is near full tang.
I love strong plastic handel knife I know they don´t look beautiful or vintage or primitive or custom made but IMHO are the best to clean fish and meat and they can be cleanning easily.
Anyway one to their own ;-)

Cast metal. Kraton handle 420HC blade like basic Bucks.

I hope you're right about the steel. I read somewhere it's 440A. That's what stopped me from buying one. Maybe someone can post a link?

I think it may depend on the model as some may have carbon. I was looking at a $20 stainless model that said 420 stainless or maybe it was 420A. Either way I've never seen it say 420HC on any website.

Martinni makes a hell of a knife..
I;ve been wanting one of those 511's for a while, but I can;t cheat on my mora
I prefer carbon over stainless blades, But honestly I don;t really care what steel a knife has as long as it I can get it sharp.
