My meager traditional knife collection.

My collection is really a bunch of knives I use, an accumulation of odds and ends or gifts. Nothing compared to many of y’all’s collections. But I got in the notion to show them all thanks to Jakeywax31 Jakeywax31 thread on downsizing his collection. Figured it was time for a collection that wasn’t all GEC or expensive customs.

Let’s start with the ones that are in the left row next to the Mora, all junk or in disrepair, except for the buck 371 which is just cheap. The mora is serrated, making it useless to me.

The 110 will be returned and should be easily repairable. The case pen knife has a broken main blade. The mini copperlocks blade touches the liners on both sides. The case medium stockmans each have issues. I’ll likely send all these case knives back in hopes they will be fixed acceptably.

Then I have at the top, what came off me for the pic, my 75 pattern case stockman, the pocket carver, and the 65 case hunter I been carrying. I also carry daily one of the leatherman pst tools at the bottom. The other is a spare.

Of the rest of the folding knives, I do carry them and use them, except for that little imperial tradesman keychain knife. It was moms, and in good shape. I was with her when she bought it from ace, 25 years ago or so.
The blue classic sak is for my boy.

Then the fixed blades, I use the 192 vanguard, and the 4” sharp brand stiff fillet knife. That is a sweet little kitchen knife, and spends its time in the block. The green schrade 143ot stays in the knife block as well as another fillet knife not pictured.

The schrade ph1 I don’t really use much but it sure is nice. I want to rehandle the 153uh again, and it needs a sheath. I think the buck 470 at top will be a car knife. The buck 684 is nice sized but needs a better sheath ( my first attempt didn’t suit me). And the buck 135 caper I handled and reshaped I’m not sure if I like or not yet. The old German hunting knife probably go to my boy. Man that thing takes a wicked edge.

Anyways, there it all is. Sans 4 modern knives, a buck 345, a junker gerber chameleon, a CRKT Denali, and a Milwaukee folder flick knife. None of which I use or carry. I guess I’m just not a new knife kinda guy.

I don’t consider it a collection, nor am I a collector. I guess I’m just curious if anyone else has a collection of basic users like me?

My "collection" is an eclectic assortment of whatever has struck my fancy at one time or another. I've got a few nice knives, but nothing of any real value. In all honesty to call it a collection is a disservice to the legit collectors here, it's more of an accumulation.

Nothing wrong with that collection. The Buck vanguard caught my eye instantly, I had one as my hunting knife for years. I foolishly traded it away about 5yrs ago and don't even remember what I got in exchange for it, all I remember is that it wasn't another knife. :)

The vanguard is my favorite fixed blade for sure.

Thanks for all the kind remarks.

I trade around some, and I regret some I got rid of, case ridgeback in rosewood, and a case 92 jack primarily. But I don’t regret getting rid of the swayback I had a spell. It was beautiful, but I don’t care for straight edge blades for general work.

Except for the schrade 34OT, all of my knives were acquired after my house burnt in 2015.

Anyone else want to share a similar user collection, it’d be neat to see.

If I get a few minutes later I'll dig through my box o knives and separate the traditionals out for a photo shoot.

Nice, thanks for sharing ww. They all look well cared for. That case slab side hunter grabs my eye for sure. What’s that custom(?) fixed blade at the top?

Thanks, that top one is a Honey Badger from Paul CPE_Knives CPE_Knives , one of our fine resident craftsmen. If memory serves me correctly I was gifted the slab side for Christmas of '04. It's been a faithful companion for many a deer hunt. I'm semi-retired from that chase anymore, but it still sees use when anyone needs help.

And here's my underwhelming collection. There's about 3 or 4 knives that are missing from this picture; they either live in my car or certain bags not with me currently.

The brand best represented is Case, as there are 11 Cases, constituting the left column (from the two Sodbusters to the scrimshawed Folding Hunter). Also 5 GECs, which are together on the right (from the 23 trapper to the White Owl).

Thanks for sharing Side O'Beef Side O'Beef The kind of collection I have, and shown by you and Wild Willie represent to me, the majority of what folks have and use. A real collection. When I see huge collections of GEC or brands even more premium, or more rare and obscure, I just can’t relate.

I'm a searcher. Always looking for the perfect knife.
Have yet to find it
Here is a bunch

I wish I could find it.
All are users.
Just lost the Queen DB Barlow.

I'm not a collector. I've bought most of those knives for specific tasks or for their versatility. Some, which however I use, for their historical interest, like the Barlow, or for their beauty, like the Washington Jack.
One of them is a gift from JohnDF, which gives it a lot of value.

Cool idea for a thread! A lot of nice useful knives in that bunch.
Everyone's look great! I'll try to post something later.

Meager, but meaningful.

2016, 18, 20, and 21 forum knives. Got the 20 and 21 thru the normal process, and then wanted to try to fill in from 2016 which is when I joined the forum. Got the 16 and 18, so only the 17 and 19 left, which will probably never happen given the crazy prices.

The A Wright was a gift from Dennis UffDa UffDa , who is no longer with us :(
The 73 was also a gift from a member
