Was chopping down boxes today and I looked at this simple little knife. Called my daughter in and had a talk about the blade geometry. (she's turning four in weeks) She said, "Dadda, I will never touch that knife unless you want me to." I said, "and that is why you are the only three year old in Benicia with a knife collection." She's a sharp one. ;)

Anyway, you all know what they look like. Here's mine.

My wife did the cross-stitch. She knows me well.

sweet deal LKJW, there's just something special about that scandi grind that's just so darn appealing.

Like always nice to see some traditional fixed blade love in the forum. It's hard to go wrong with a Mora #1 as far as I'm concerned. The Scandi ground blades are among my my favorite blade grinds. They are very easy to sharpen and can get downright scary sharp at that.

Your pic wins. :)

Yeah, that's what I was saying to my girl. The Scandi...I showed her a beater Cold Steel Finn Bear, too. Those blades are just made to cut. The only knives I won't let her near.

edit: until recently the Mora was ALWAYS on the "belt" of my MC jacket. Then I realized I didn't want to be impaled if I ever crash.

Hey-oo! :D All puns aside, that's nice to have a daughter who understands that knives are serious tools that are not to be trifled with.

Good parenting me thinks,
Connor

it sounds like your daughter is a sharp one indeed. i started with my daughters at a young age as well... knives and guns

i will admit i hadnt ever considered owning a Mora until recently. i bought a stainless companion that is a great kitchen knife, and picked up a triflex in a trade. love them both...simple, comfy in my big hands and they get scary sharp. i think i might be picking up a few more soon, just to try out a couple different models.

*add....love that cross stitch, very cool

Thanks guys. My wife made me that cross stitch when we hadn't been dating too long. ;) And my daughter is more mature than me, probably, she's got the bug, though. And you're correct, the Mora is a beast. ;)

Got my first Mora recently and was really impressed with it. I know there'll be mora them in my future. (pun intended)

Glad you like that Triflex, it needed a good home.

That´s a nice knife for your daughter. A great choice :)

I have some experience with Mora´s, but that classic beauty is a nice one, I should own at some time.

Kind regards
Andi

You can't do any better for the money the way I figure it. It gets so sharp it scares ME.

I've got them stashed several places in the shed, the garage, the car, the truck.... With a mora there's no excuse not to have a sturdy sharp knife wherever you may need it.

Good call.

Carried this one at the lake over the weekend:

Got a couple funny looks until I explained it was a Mora "Scout", and as a Scout leader I needed to Be Prepared in case I caught any fish to eat :D. My family all knows I'm goofy about knives (and watches and Zippos) so they just accepted it.

Too bad my son skunked me with the biggest largemouth of the weekend, just a little over 12". He didn't want to eat it though, so back in the lake it went for someone else to try.
