My Mini-C bit me on XMAS day

On Christmas day I was trying to cut one of those plastic ties that holds toys to their packaging for my daughter. It was pretty thick plastic and didn't give at first. All of the sudden it cut the plastic and I felt something hit my hand. I looked down and there was 2 inch laceration down to the bone on my left thumb. To make a long story short, I spent XMAS day in the ER. Seven stitches later I made it back home.

My mini-C is the sharpest thing out the box I've ever seen. I though I was being careful, but it just goes to show that you can't be too careful. To all the suspects and knife users in general: knives are serious tools and should be treated as such. Be safe and Happy New Year.

I hope your holidays were okay despite your injury. I can't help but laugh though, the 2000 Commander I got from Mrs. Raye for a wedding present sliced me open when I was using it to open our wedding envelopes. The tux went back with a huge sample of my DNA!

:D

Well I wasn't going to say anything but after bitching so much about sharpening my CQC7A, Mach1,and Commander. I was "feeling the edge" on my Comm.over the weekend after giving it a good work up. Sliding my right index down the blade to feel the grabbiness, not hard mind you, the thing grabbed the tip of my digit and voila about an 1/8" of dermis sliced clean off. A nice thick piece too. Hurts like hell even as I type. Needles to say it is good enough for me! I know have a StarMate I just recently purchased from a fellow formite that is even beyond this type of sharp. Careful now....Keep'em sharp

justg a tip (no pun intended)--where i work (well, some call it work!) it's a sagety violation to use a knife to cut =tie-wraps=. always use a pair of side-cutters. ever a knife. a little late,
or *latte*, if ya prefer, but early for next time. i've had the tip of my left thumb sliced clean off by a kitchen *chef* knife several years ago. the thunb tip actually stuck to the blade! i figured it was *gone*, and almost tossed it into the garbage disposal, but had it sewn back on @ E.R. ( not the tv show) anyway, use side cutters--much safer.
