I had two piles outside. One pile of split oak and one pile of rough sawn maple. The mistress took care of most of the maple and anything around six inches in diameter. There were lots of pieces that were too big for my stove, I did use a maul on the really big stuff and then used the mistress to finish the job. I broke a lot of stuff down reaaly small from sharpie size to toothpick size for kindling.
