Rather than polishing my BK14 like my BK2, I decided to go the opposite route and force a patina.

I used a chemical stripper and stripped the coating off and sanded it a bit to get a nice surface. Then I stuck it in a grapefruit and let it sit overnight. I think it came out with a pretty cool patina. I also changed the paracord wrap from black to olive drab. It still has the stock sheath.

That's a nice patina, looks kinda like a burl pattern. Great job on the paracord wrap as well.

Yup looks good. The patina will change with time. I like them. You might want to melt the ends of the 550 cord.

The ends are actually melted. It just looks weird because the center fibers were sticking out more before I melted them.

Nice job!

The wrap looks a little loose and you can cut the ends down more and melt it to the paracord, that way it doesn't stick out.

Silly question time perhaps from a new comer to knives outside of the kitchen.

Is that an ESEE brand on the side of the BK14? Is this made by KA-BAR or ESEE?

ESEE handle and BK11 blade. It's an interesting story.
