Hey guys! Just figured I would share one of my projects. This has been my most extensive one yet. A Viking inspired Norse Hawk mod I did for a friend of mine that has right around 50-60 work hours into it. This was one of my first relief carving pieces so it took me a while to get it down. All the designs that were carved and burned into the haft were influenced from the Viking Era. I am pleased with the way it turned out, but glad it is through!

Beautiful as usual !

A Wood Jewler in action!
Thanks bro!
Wow you are a talented artist!
Thank you! I'm still learning everyday!
Respect the work put into in! But i wouln't you that anymore. Not so much because of its estatic value, but more because of grime getting everywere into the handle and I'd be getting blisters.
I can understand! Although very functional, it may not be the right "choice" of tool!
Beautiful as usual !
thank you bro!

Nice work! Have you experimented with denser woods and/or finer burning tips? It seems like the material is maybe holding you back. Just a thought.

Thanks man! I will tell you this... That hickory is hard to work with. There are so many mistakes made on this carving it isn't funny. I did use an expensive Razertip burner with some fine tips, but, I will be first to tell you that I am not the best wood burner! The way the grain is on this hickory is very hard to work with. I appreciate the kind words! I am always looking for improvement areas.

Yeah the grain seems difficult. Not that hickory is soft, but with wood as soft as hickory (relatively) I think you could have even just skipped the carving in some areas and used the burner a little more aggressively. Either way like I said, nice work. I'd like to see you work with some dense maple or yellow birch.
