My wife, daughter and one of her friends and I were out on the lake yesterday going tubing and Skiing. I got the boat unloaded and push off into the water and the boat would not start. Now this is a mini vacation for my wife and she has wanted to get the boat out for a long time. The battery was dead. She actually started crying a little. I felt so sorry for her. So I loaded up the boat and looked at the terminals and realized the possitive terminal on the main battery was corroded. I took the battery out and used my Leatherman Blast file, to clean it really good. Then I took the trolling motor battery which was good and swapped it over. Hooked her up and we boated all day long with no worries. My leatherman made me the hero for the day. I used the pliers, file and blade. Hey its all the tools I had with me and its all I needed. Now she sees why I carry my multitool every where we go. She even stated that she wants one to carry in her purse. That Blast is a great little tool. Oh, on a side note, I charged up the other battery and its now fully charged. So I have both batteries back in the boat. Thank goodness for Leathermans.

Good job. 400 dollar fixed blades and custom folders are nice and all, but a good 30 dollar Leatherman Tool is worth its weight in gold in situations like you just described. I've still got the original Leatherman Supertool that my dad bought me as a birthday present about 15 years ago, and it has (and will continue to) been on my belt or in my pack through many, many hikes, bicycle rides, and motorcycle rides. It's a bit heavy, but with it and a larger fixed blade, I feel ready for the outdoors. In terms of times I've used it during a situation where I've truly needed it, it's one of the most valuable gifts I've ever been given, not on the scale of retail pricing, but on the scale of "man, what would I have done if I hadn't had it with me that time when I used it too....." Based on your original post, I can tell you know what I mean. Oh, and get your wife a Blast. Who knows? It might hasten her down the trail to Knife-a-holic Land. Or at the very least it might allow her to get herself out of a tricky mechanical problem some day.

You shouild post your story on the Leatherman site! I think they call it tool tales!

Nice job!

I really don't know how I ever went without a leatherman (or some sort of plier based multi). Carried a knife since I was a kid and only within the past year or so did I get my LM Wave. I've lost count of the times it's really come through and each time it was unexpected that i'd need it that time/day. I can't go anywhere without it.

Pretty good story .

I've saved the day with the corkscrew on my SAK a few times.
