Just a few pics of my CQC14. I removed the wave because I just didn't like it on a work knife. Thanks to some tips from Lycosa I also removed the satin blade coating, because it looked like it went through the war. It didn't take much to scratch and gouge the finish. Anyways I just thought I share some pics(albeit poor quality)...this is now a favorite work EDC for me. Vault like lock up with a perfect utility blade...what's not to like:D

Nice one :)

That knife does look better with out the wave IMO, the true satin finish you did turned out great as well.

Thanks for the positive comments...the 14 is a work in progress. I still have to do some cleanup around the jimping...and I'm working on the edge profile but it may ultimately find it's way to Tom Krein.

DaveReb---Outstanding!!! One of the Nicest Emerson's I've seen! ;)
Thanks for the pix.

I agree with Haze. It does look much better without the Wave, yet I'd still keep it on mine. That's sweet looking. Nice job!

Great job Dave! I did that to one of mine too only later sold it off. I agree it looks better without. Ernie should start offering one in a non Waved version IMO.

Excellent modifications Dave. I just got a 14, but so far I like the wave feature on it. Sooner or later I'll get a non-waved Emerson. More than likely it will probably be a CQC-7 though.:)

AUGH! a perfectly fine CQC14, neutered of its wave, and polished....... :grumpy::mad::eek::grumpy:

if it works for you, thats great!

me i like the wave on my Snubby :cool:

Thanks for the compliment STR, the finish came out better than I could hope for..alot better than that attemp on my ex-PT:o
I also want to thank the rest of you guys for the compliments as well...and to Lycosa who posted the thread that got me going on the coating removal, along with tips to remove it...it took a bit longer than 15 minutes though:D

The wave never worked for me on a work knife. This is my third CQC14...the first two I sold because the wave just didn't do it for me. I'm in construction so I'm sometimes in unsteady positions, ie ladders, scaffolds and don't want a blade to deploy until I'm ready to use it. I know you can unpocket the knife without deploying the blade...but that takes a conscience effort:eek: The CQC14 is a one of a kind knife to me...the blade length allows me to legally carry the knife in/thru local municipalities where there are blade length rules in the books. While also giving me the advantage of a full sized handle for tough cutting. It was a no brainer...I needed another one:thumbup: I bought this, my third Snubby, with the intent of doing a wave-ectomy and couldn't be happier with the out come... it is a whole new knife for me now..and finally found a spot in my EDC rotation.

Thanks Again guys
Dave

Dave---I'm glad you're happy.
You know, my latest CQC-7 is just so damn perfect---it might be awhile before I strip it.

My next EKI will probably be a Mini CQC-7, but I want to have a look at the mini a100 before I make a decision...I'll probably end up with both:cool:

great job there! can't even tell it had a wave at all :)
i wish emerson made a snubby without the wave and in black coating :(

Can you explain how you got the satin finish off? THX

I used WD-40 and the green scotch brite pads, per Lycosa's recommendation. It took a little time but was well worth it. With the coating removed the action is alot smoother, and the 154 cleans up so nicely:thumbup:

Even emersons satin finish is a coated blade as well. Just cutting up some cardboard boxes put some unsightly mrks on the finish. Removing the coating removed the eye sores plus now the blade can always be touched up with a scotch brite pad.

I personally would like to see EKI put out Stonewashed blades...my favorite!
