Still hanging with the in-laws this Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. After doing some bowdrill yesterday, my father in-law wanted to do some deer spotting. This morning we got up at six am and popped by our little prairie. We were met by RangerJoe. Spotted lots of deer and two small racked bucks. The fall colours are heavenly right now and I think this is one of the better years for displays than had in quite a few. I was outfitted with my 70-300 mm zoom lens for deer and cranked up the ISO to catch shots in the low light which contributed to a lot of grain. I almost wish I would have brought my wide angle with me. Maybe later this evening before dusk I'll go back with the landscapes in mind. Anyhow, here are some pics from our morning hike.
This one was about our 4th sighting up to this point.
Okay, my name is buck and I like to ....................[insert word here]
This is one of my favorite shots this morning. I just like the pastal colours faded by a bit of fog.
We made a little twig fire (started with a zippo lighter). Joe and I were both laughing because we really sucked at lighting a fire with a lighter. I was about to pull out my firesteel but then Joe managed to nurse the twigs into flame.
Into the tall grass which soaked us from the dew
The last deer flushed out
I think we easily came across 15 or so deer today. They are getting randy!
