Well, looks like it finally happened.

Grad school pays next to nothing, and my wife and I got married just 4 months ago.

Priorities have shifted and we came to a joint decision to limit me to birthday knives, at least while we are still in grad school.

Oh well, gives me time to use my many spydies.

How do you guys deal with this money pit?

Also, please excuse the typo in the title.

When times are tight I lay out every knife I own - then I realize I can wait a little bit longer. The curse of an addict.

i'm lucky to have a lady who sympathizes with my hobby, she knows how much i like collecting...things. she likes my knives too, so i guess i'm not really alone being punished. :p

Withdrawal is tough buddy. I've been running with the same spyderco for a while now, and as of lately I've been looking for any excuse to buy a new one. All these new spydies are too hard on my eyes!

Too bad for college budgets

Yeah it's a the sickness is hard to overcome. I'm not an addict though, I could stop whenever I want. I just do it socially, with friends at parties but I'm not an addict.

It is a sickness. How many high wearing folders do I need to open envelopes and open the occasional box? S90V, M390, ZDP189...I get them so I never have to sharpen them and so they last forever right? Well, I sharpen the poop out of them til they can split hairs...then use them to cut a few things and then re-strop them to restore the ever so slightly degraded edge...

I'm sick, I admit it.

At least my wife is happy because our kitchen knives are also sharp (gotta give her some consolation with this addiction).

the thing is she forbids me from selling any of my knives. she says i have them because i like them and there is no reason to get rid of them. my sweetheart.

She sounds like a keeper Seanifred. Nice work. (My good lady thinks I have three knives and none of them are Spydies. Hmmm)

I hear ya. I'm 24 and looking for work. I'm just glad that I found a model (the Caly series) that I really enjoy to use and carry. That helps kill the drive to acquire more and more. Now I can upgrade my sharpening equipment a little bit and save money for other things.

But if a Native 5 comes out in XHP, then I will sell blood to get it. :p

Don't worry, :D I'm not an addict either, I tried smoking a Para2 the other day to stop my cravings and it worked u might try that

Whatever your wife's name is, put a, St., in front of it. I know...I've got the same! You're hooked. Sometimes I drive around late at night in parks, and look for knives that maybe, people have dropped while playing with their kids...you know, expensive custom folders...top of the line automatics...custom pushers...ANYTHING!! Yeah, go ahead and laugh!...You'll be doing the same thing before you know it!! ;)
