I was following the Dark Side knives thread and got the email about all the options. Well, I've been on Burt's list for about 18 months and seeing as that was what I was told back when I put my name in I thought I better ask before buying one of his new Dark Side knives.
Sure enough..:thumbup::D My turn is basically here so we are working on ideas.

When Burt wrote me back he still had the photo of the knife I was interested in bookmarked next to my name. I am impressed at the organization he must have. Heck, I'd long forgotten that I sent him a picture.

Even after 18 months, and I am a relative newcomer to the world of customs, I was surprised to see that my tastes had gone through a gamut of different styles only to come back to the same place. I think this would be the same picture I would send to him.

In bouncing the ideas, Burt sent me another pic of one of his recent favorite styles. I preferred the older blade profile but the newer guard and handle.

There's still time so I would love to see your Burt Foster hunters. I've looked at so many but do we really need much excuse to collect them in one place again.?:)

First pic, the one I sent him a year and a half ago:

And forgive me this is my first photoshop/photochop ever. My hybrid of the two knives.

I think you have found what you like and should go with that it will make a terrific little knife.

Here are a bunch of pics for you:

Maybe so Roger but this picture you posted gives me pause.

It'll be my ONE from Burt for some time so I really want to make it special.

Thanks for all the pics..

Here's another one that I always liked:

I'm pretty sure I want to go with a laminated blade though as that is really a trademark feature to me.

For my taste (and use, if it will be used any at all), Burt's most recent photo he sent you, fits what I would like to a tee. I prefer the slimmer profile and like you like the guard and handle better on the later photo.

The sheath is a little shabby, but don't mention it to Burt. He cries easily.:D

I love Burt's integrals, so I understand your pause. The one I have from him is too large to be called a hunter - unless you're hunting zombies. ;) I used to have THE most elegant little integral desk knife of his, but Murray pried it from my hands.

I think the laminate is the right call.

one at either end of the spectrum;

That's a tough decision to make. Whatever you decide you will be happy.

^^ Very nice!! I really like that blade profile. I think even more so than my first choice. The clip point matches the curve of the guard better I think..

I will try another photochop...

And Paul, I won't hurt Burt's feelings about the sheath. :)

Lorien, as much as I like the big'uns I'm going small as my budget isn't too high and I really think that the laminated blade is a must in this case.

Tough decision but boy what a fortunate decision I am making here. A choice of masterpieces...

Nice stuff in this thread, enough to make a decision pretty tough! I love the laminate blades and clip points. Good luck bro, look forward to seeing what you come up with.

I enjoyed viewing this thread, beautiful pics of some beautiful knives. I would be very happy to have any of these knives! Enjoy.

This is the same knife I posted before but this is Burts photo. Its more head on so it shows the profile better.

Thanks for the extra photo. That same background made for a much easier photoshop job. I like that blade on this handle.

Looks good. Ya cant really go wrong. This particular hunter would be a good user if I were to use it. Nothing fancy and no high polishes on that particular guard. Just a good straight up knife with a comfy handle. If you notice the handle butt is a little long on mine, it actually feels really good for grip in the palm.

Looks like you morphed yourself a winner. The integrals are cool but you'd give up having a proper guard. Will this be a user or a safe queen? Congrats, bet you'll have a kool-aid grin for a few days once you recieve it.
