Just picked up a new native from Wally's and have already lost the clip and its bolt/nut.

I'm not so sure I like the design. How about you guys?? Do you have problems with it getting loose and falling off?

I tightend it back several times, but it just kept getting loose. I was lucky the knife fell into my pocket and not out.

Guess I'm on a quest for a new, or better clip for it. I'm gonna keep it(it just cuts so darn well.)

I have been carrying a Native since 30 minutes after I found out they sell them at our local WalMart. I reversed the clip for left hand carry the first night, and took it off one other time to rebend it after snagging it a few times. Never had any trouble with the barrel bolt, and I didn't even Loctite it. I've only had it three or four months, but so far, so good.

mine was pretty tight, i took it out once and have never had to tighten it again

but i've only had it a couple weeks, and haven't carried it the whole time

I had one for awhile and mine too would come loose on occasion, never to point of me loosing it but sometimes at the end of the day I would check it and it was a bit loose. I just assumed it was because I snagged it on something, thats usually when it would happen.

Never h the probem, though I i ecide to just remove the clip for good. Better ergonomics and it's small / light enough to just toss in a pocket.

I removed my clip about 30 seconds after receiving it. It works better for me as a bottom-of-the-pocket knife.

You can use some loctite on the threads or if you think it's defective then shoot Spyderco an email. They'll probably send you a new nut/clip combination.

Just a question for you guys who have had problems with the clip. How much did you tighten the barrel screw? I've had mine for about six months now, and I usually use one quarter and my finger on the other side to take it off and to tighten it. I'm wondering if maybe to much pressure might be the problem, causing it to strip the threads a bit.

I used to have a Native. Any Spyderco I've ever had with the barrel nut/bolt clip I would remove as soon as I got it, put on Loc-Tite (blue) and then put it back together.

I would use two large screwdrivers to tighten it and sometimes it was difficult to do. I tried using a nickel but it just was never tight enough.

Personally I hate that clip design. :D

Guess what?? I shot an email to spyderco and they are sending me a new clip kit. Man, that's great customer service. They did recommend using loctite on the threads. I will have to do that and maybe won't go through this again.

Thanks for all the comments!

Andy

I never had that problem with my Natives, but I had that exact same problem with one of my Wayne Goddards.

Thats great Andy! The very main reason I got Spyderco in the first place was because of the fair warranty and the great customer service a friend of mine told me about. I hope that in the future this wont be a problem for you. Good luck with all your future Spyderco endeavours.
