Hey BF,

I don't know if any of you remember or were here, but a few months ago, maybe November of last year, I posted a thread talking about how my nephew wanted a Sebenza and how he was about halfway there. Well, yesterday he ordered it. He got the $200 he needed and bought a Large plain 21 from KnifeArt. It will hopefully be here by the end of the week. He's super excited and so am I! I'll keep this thread updated.

Congratulations to your nephew. He clearly sounds like he understands that the lushest fruits come from labors done on one's own!

Sounds like me a while back! I'm sure he'll love the knife and get a lot out of it. If you don't mind me asking, how old is he?

Not trying to be negative or condescending at all. I wonder, if he's only 13 if he will appreciate what the awesome knife he has. Has he had less expensive knives...

$100-200 knives before he saved for the seb ? If yes, I can understand that he might appreciate the seb.

At only 13, I don't know. I have 2 grandsons that are the same age. I know they would not ready, for several reasons, for a seb. Just my .02

Yes, he's had other knives. I believe it goes like this.

Desert Sand/Black Kershaw Leek
Kershaw Piston
Kershaw Blur S30V
Spyderco Paramilitary 2
Spyderco Manix 2 S110V (Which he sold because it didn't slice very well. It came with an edge ground very high up the knife, if that makes sense Something like .79 MM thick behind the edge)
Benchmade 940-1 (Traded a Spyderco Southard to get it)

Now he's getting a Sebenza. I think he'll appreciate the quality. None of us will know though until he gets it. I certainly appreciate mine, and he seems to as well whenever he comes over. We'll see! :D

My 13 year old son just bought an Emerson CQC-7V about a month ago. It's nice to see these young guys appreciating quality knives instead of just spending all of their money on video games.

That is a pretty awesome list for a 13 year old. I have pretty similar taste in knives. ...not sure if that is a good thing or bad thing to have the same taste in knives as a 13-year-old :p

I remember your previous thread. Thanks for posting an update about your nephew, and send him a congratulations !

Ah! But I think a 13-year-old has the same taste in knives as we do. ;)

Glad to see the young man stuck to his guns. I hope he will still be able to appreciate the ones he has now and not have the Sebenza ruin him. There's just a whole parcel of great knives to be had and enjoyed.

That is awesome! He will own it and love it forever!

That is an awesome accomplishment for an adolescent!
Can only imagine the pride that he is going to feel in his prize as well as his drive for his next goal.

Good for him! Life isn't free and the best way to learn that is as young as possible.

At 13 I was saving up for a gun that cost me about twice that, so I get it. Congratulations!

I think I'm going to have to start saving up for one. I just keep hearing too much good about them, and I love their looks.
