Howdy all at the cantina! Just thought I'd let you ('specially Uncle)
know that I recieved my UBDOTD Kobra. WHAT AN AWESOME KHUK! AND ONLY $50! Uncle, did you drink too many Heinies that morning? If that's all it takes there will be a case coming your way next time I wanna order a khuk
. I spent a half hour getting the rig up to HI standards-used fine Scotch Brite on the rust, then 800 grit paper, then rouge. There are a few pits but the rust is gone and it is nice and shiny again. Remedied the tight sheath (almost couldn't get the khuk out of it) by running warm water into empty sheath for couple minutes, then wrapped up over nite in a damp old towel. Oiled and shoe polished the leather this morning, oiled inside of sheath too. The blade slips right in now without any swear words or foreplay . I gotta tell you that I like this 18" 20 oz Kobra better than 16.5" 25 oz WWII by Durba, or the 18" 23 oz Sirupati by Bura I bought for the kids'sifu. This thing has just the right amount of mass to cause mayhem, but it is fast, fast, fast in the hand. Blade is .350" at the bolster, .3125 at elbow, .250 near the tip, width is 1.375 at its widest. KNN=one bitchin' khukri!
Off topic but still about pokey sharp things- I bought a Kershaw Scallion pocket knife this weekend, good deal at $35 out the door. It has Ken Onion's speed assist torsion bar. This will have to be my manly pacifier at work, since I can't fondel my khuk's at my desk:
anyhow, sorry for rammblin on. stevomiller
