SO I ordered a 250mm 80 Grit White Wheel for my wet stone grinder .
What knife to test first :
THe very disappointing Freetiger FT-31 off course .

I put a fresh edge onto the FreeTiger FT-31 D2 to see how things go ..
A) This stone can cut steel !
B) I was a little surprised , this stone seem to eat steel better than the 60 grit .
C) Oh the FT-31

The FT-31 rolled the edge from about 200 slices ( detected ) and failed the paper slice test at 300 . ( 18 degrees / 80 grit )
Stropping the edge back was a non issue , came back strong .
60 grit and 22 degrees returned some 150 slices .. So only 100% more slicing .

Two more knives to test in this series ..
THe next knife will be the Control Knife , as we have a 60 grit result for it .
And all I did was match the angle and grind a fresh edge with the white wheel .

Control Knife : Gearbest Mystery Steel

60 grit result was a 300 Fail
80 grit result is a 350 Fail ..
Not a huge increase ...
Same knife , same bevel , different grit Wheel ..
I matched the angle of the previous 60 grit edge , and just reground it 80 grit .

Enlan EL06

A very disappointing knife with a conventional edge !
It was failing around 100 slices ..

Put a 80 grit white whale ( wheel ) edge on it and it fails at 300 slices ..
That was a very nice gain .
And there was no edge roll , so if this was a daily ? I could tighten the angle of the bevel .

That was the last knife for now : Definitely have to re visit the 80 grit 250mm wheel ..
First I have some 60 grit knives to get thru , then maybe pick some for re edging to 80 grit !

My poor hands gave up before the Ganzo ..
700 Slices ...
+ The paper I took outside did absorb moisture !
Because the paper I had inside , sliced better !
Butt & it's a huge butt!
700+ Slices .. That's pretty awesome ! For what was a disappointing knife to begin with !

Did some sharpening today ! = More testing soon .

Links are for reviews posted
And also my Muela Elk ( review not posted ) but did 350 slices on the 220 grit wet stone grinder edge ..
And the two TwoSun knives that were HARD .. TS09 & TS208 ..
These two knives took a lot of grinding .. Bevels were tightened .. ( Wonder what they will do )
SMK & Kizer Domin Mini are disappointing knives .. ESP the Kizer !
So , soon !

Kizer Domin Mini = Consistently Fails at 150 slices 4 times in a row ..
So far a overpriced underperforming knife ..
I matched the bevel and ground the knife 80 grit ( The white wheel ) ..
This will be the 5th time this Kizer is put to the rope ! ( Can't say I don't give a knife a fair go )
It's a wet / drizzly day .. So will be slicing paper inside .... And I am starting pretty much with the most disappointing knife ! ( Thanks Kizer )

A 200 slice fail ... Up some 50 slices from it's previous quad 150 result ..
A disappointing knife ...

KME front flipper 14c28n / Factory 50 slice fail / 220 grit wet stone grinder - 150 slice fail .
It's another wet McNasty day out there , and for some strange reason the sun is shinning right now !
Still , high humidity so I will slice paper inside .

With the lacklustre result from the Kizer , I was not expecting a 100% improvement .
Fail came at 300 slices .. Up from 150 .
That's a decent result for the white wheel from a disappointing knife !

Ganzo FB765 440c goes negative !

That's right , we have our very first Negative result .
The Ganzo fails at 200 slices . This is down from 300 slices with the 220 grit factory wheel that the wet stone grinder comes with .
So we have lost at the very least 33% from going to the 80 grit wheel .
Video Soon :

TwoSun TS09 with a 80 grit edge ..
I went from a 400 slice fail to a 450 slice fail ..
A small increase of 50 slices ..
The TS09 does have a rather thick blade for a folder , knife is built like a bank vault .
So I can understand the result .. It's not a particularly slice'y knife ..

I guess the good news is I got the knife to 450 .. Which is where I like to see D2 performance ( Higher is better ) . But at the very least , 450 .

What speed is that stone turning at? Are you burning the steel?
Water cooled grinding !
+ I am not using much pressure .. THe blade skates over the grinding wheel .
And there is plenty of water on the surface of the grinder wheel .
What is the RPM ? = 120

That Scheppach grinder he's using is pretty much identical to a Tormek T8, purposely designed for sharpening tools, so no worries on that.

TwoSun TS208 D2 65HRC file skates ( Hard Blade )

Previously :
Factory 200 Fail
Guided knife sharpener 250 Fail
60 grit grind ( wet stone grinder ) 500 slice fail
80 grit grind ( wet stone grinder ) 600 slice fail
A 100 slice increase from 60 grit to 80 grit ..
Edge strops back strong on pure leather alone .
Wow , 600 slices .. That is the stomping ground of super steel .. ( 600+ )
That result is not bad for D2 at all . This blade is thinner than the one on the TwoSun TS09 , so more slice 'y .
I was expecting a negative result or maybe the same result .. But a 100 slice gain was a surprise .. ( Pleasant )

Muela ELK ( X50CrMoV15 blade steel ) apparently 5cr15mov is a Chinese Copy of the German X50CrMov15 ...

Anyways .... 80 grit grind returns a 350 Fail result .. This is the same result I got with the 220 grit wheel ..

350 is not bad for CrMov ... So , same' o / same 'o
Neither better or worse !
As for value for money ? It's around $100 Oz bananas .. What can you buy in a fixed blade for around $100 Oz bananas that kicks this knife to the curb ?

I took out my Swordfish D2 knife and put a 80 grit edge one it !
Previously the knife had done 300 @ 220 grit ( wet stone grinder )
I pretty much replicated the result with the 80 grit edge .. ( 300 Fail )
Since the edge did not roll , I have tightened the bevel .

The next knife will be a TwoSun .. TS206 Multifunction
22deg Guided knife sharpener bevel
150/175 slice fail ..
Yes , not impressive .. 14c28n ... ? @ 80 grit .

Hmmmm ... TwoSun TS206 Multi function 14c28n

If mem serves .. Edge rolled like a champ at 18 degrees ..
So I gave it a 22 deg bevel for a 150/170 ish fail !

Reground with the 80 grit white 250mm wheel ..
And I managed to squeeze out a 400 fail at 22 degrees .. ( or near enough )
Edge did not roll , that I know off ..
But still ... A nice improvement of over 100% ..
