Hi, Guys very excited today I got to go pick up my new German Bastard at A&A this morning.
I ordered it Nov but they have been very busy but it was worth the wait. I went with an brown grip instead of black more my style :)its stunning next to my fabled Atrim war sword this thing takes the cake. Craig and the whole crew at A&A are great to deal with in every aspect. If you haven't ordered a blade from them please do so you will not be disappointed. I'm vey impressed with the it and finish of the blade and furniture. Now if I could quite buying knives I will get a sweet scabbard for it as well.

Yeah thats not going to happen:D

Nice looking piece there. If you like buying their stock stuff, try going custom next time. You will find the wait for that is not much more than what you put in.

You could try making a sheath for her.

Thx, Gregorio I was actually thinking of having them make a bigger 13th century style great war sword. Which is my favorite style of XIIA Blade. As far as a Scabbard making goes I'm not up to par lol. In my mind I can do it but Being a city boy I lack the tools or the job. Lucky for me I know a great scabbard maker who does great work at a reasonable price.

I like the brown grip. I had found one second hand many years ago and they are a great piece.

Nathan Robinson had a custom done based on these.

My two A&A continue to be a Black Prince with bronze, the older grip configuration but the GBS a sibling of A&A's biggest selling model of swords. A one off Edward III blade with urbino mounts now lives with someone else.

The two group shots of too many GBS (or. great big swords) Three of them though with the official acronym of GBS. Two of those as German Bastards, the other Gothic. ;)

The GBS falling through a mat. More effort to stop it than strike at it.

Keep the weight in mind when swinging it about. It is a hefty four and a half pounds or so. The Del Tin 5157 is actually just a bit longer but more than a pound lighter.

Here is my 5157 with my pair of ATrims (XIIIa and XIIa).

What is this A&A you speak of?

Fantastic looking swords here, I have always been a fan of western 2 handed swords and bastard swords but didn't know there was anyone churning out usable, quality repros.

A&A for Arms&Armor www.armor.com another American production source would be Albion Swords http://www.albion-swords.com/

There is quite a large market of functional western swords and priced accordingly with how knives go. Spend a little, get little.

Del Tin swords are from Italy and retailed by a couple of US sources but also available direct. http://www.deltin.net/home.htm Fulvio and his family have been at it a long time. They do not ship sharpss but Kult of Athena both sells and sharpens them.

Those three just a tip of the iceberg. Angus Trim (ATrim) et al swords are hard to come by right now but supposedly projected for big things to come. Gus is a machinist/enthusiast that started doing swords at the end of the last century.

A man who knows his swords I couldn't resist showing my Atrim Austrian Warsword(Green one) as well:) I don't have an Albion yet but the SL 13th Great sword, Baron and Viceroy are on my list for must have blades be fore I kick it.

Nice sword. I used to have one, but I wasn't using it that much so I decided to let it pass to someone else. It was an older one as well, and A&A has definitely stepped up their game in recent years. I've thought about having a larger version made, as I prefer a bigger grip now.

That Atrim looks pretty sweet too.

I've got an Albion Baron, and it's a pretty sweet blade. I've been thinking of selling that one too though, as I'm more focused on the 15th and 16th century stuff now.

A good friend has a Baron and it is a very nice XIIa. It is pretty much toe to toe with the middle sword (AT1319) of that trio I showed but the Baron is a bit more point heavy. I would think a Duke would actually be the great sword of that line up but I guess a XIIa can suit.

I like the CF Austrian (was it a CF production?). MY 1319 was a little different than the standard back then in 2004 and I guess kind of falls into the current (recent) Gus XIIa.IV bracket. My XIIIa never really got a Gus number but those were just labeled as the classic. A bit lighter and thinner bladed than what folk really wanted to see. Cuts like a demon though.

I am pretty much out of the new manufacture market but have enjoyed watching the progression of things.

Cheers
