Just got my AFCK-II from Skylands Cutlery. Greg was very patient, responsive and helpful...a world of difference between him and some other retailers I can name.
What can I say? I LOVE this knife. The elegant blade shape reminds me of a yataghan, which places a curve near the last 1.5" of the blade and still remains pointy. Grinds are symmetrical and very well done. The polish is excellent for a production knife - I can see my own reflection in the blade. It is flat ground, which I think is a lot better than hollow ground.
Blade opens smoothly and locks up positively, with no blade wobble at all. Jimping on back of the blade feels good on the thumb and gives even better grip.
Handle shape is excellent...which is a major reason why I bought this knife instead of others. There is no way my hand can slip onto the very sharp blade. Also, I couldn't disengage the liner lock except by slipping my thumbnail inside the scales and depressing the liner - which is exactly how it should be done.
Only 2 things I would change. First, replace the clip with a deep pocket style clip where the entire body of the knife is in your pocket and not sticking out. Secondly, ditch the two 'Balisong' logos near the bottom of the handle, or at least remove the word 'Balisong'. I don't need idiots mistaking my knife for a real Balisong, however unlikely that might be. Balisongs are illegal in Canada.
Summary? I paid close to $90 USD for this knife...and boy, what a lot of value you get! I'm very impressed
