My spyderco caly3 has always been one of my sharpest folders..........until I recently got the Al Mar Hawk ffg ultralight. This thing slices through cardboard like a filet knife!

Impressive!!

I've had several Al Mars over the years. Every one of them has been the equal of any of my Spydercos for O-O-B sharpness and they come back to that level really well. They are outstanding knives. A tad overpriced for what they are IMAO, but outstanding nonetheless.

The cutting geometry on the Al Mar Ultralights is outstanding. After using a Hawk and Falcon, I really took a liking to FFG blades. I got mine (a Falcon and Hawk) back in 2001. Nice little knife.

Here is a pic of how much cleaner a cut the al mar hawk does on some finicky card board I have that binds easily

I love my Ultralight Falcon. As someone else noted, a little overpriced, but that's why I waited for a good deal on the forums.

I used to think it was a bit expensive. Especially since it is aus 8 steel

But the build quality and cutting performance more than justify the price

The steel also holds and edge quite well compared to other aus 8 knives I have

I am now looking to pick up an al mar osprey and falcon.
