I have found that while yes, some folding saws (Looking at you Laplander) are very capable, a larger saw is needed for firewood prep on a large scale. I have used Corona saws, Fiskars, and Silky saws but none of them compare to the ease of cutting, low weight, and durability of a good bow saw. I used to pack around a big heavy one but quickly got tired of the weight and size and decided to build my own. I used two 18" aluminum limbs from 3/4" aluminum square tubing, two 1 1/2"x1/4" bolts with appropriate wing nuts, 1/2 holes for the cross bar and cheap nylon cord as a grip and a tension line. The saw can take any length of blade depending on what size cross bar you use/how much rope used but I normally stick to 24" saw blades, a good balance between power and pack-ability.

I use what ever I can find at my camp for the cross bar and whittle it down to a dull spike that fits the 1/2" socket. I also scavenge the toggle that adds tension in the line but I have been known to just use a tent peg if I don't feel like looking for a good stick. This was free for me to build as I had all the scrap parts/tools on hand but will only cost you around $10-15USD (not including the blades, the Bacho Raker blades can be had for ~$10 on amazon)
The three pictures should be (From top to bottom) The assembled saw, What I pack in, and my trusted woods combo.

Note: I don't carry an axe for a reason.
