Auntie Yangdu sent me a suprise for my birthday last week and it arived this afternoon right as I was walking out my door to head to work. It turned out to be a new Amar Singh Thapa Khukri and it is awesome!! When this knife first showed up for sale I made the comment that I hoped the Kami's would keep making it so I could get one this summer and Yandgu must have been listening. Thanks a bunch!!!

Specs are as follows:
Length over all: 18-3/4"
Blade Thickness: 1/2"
blade width: 2-1/4"
handle length: about 6" (top of bolster to butt)
White mettle fixings
Rosewood handle?
Weight 2 pounds 9.7 ounces (41.7oz)

Since I live in student housing I have not had a chance to cut anything with the blade except for the tube it came in. The curve and over all shape lends it's self to stabbing and I poked the box a ton. It feels like it will make a great chopper and when I hold it I want to give a battle cry and fight orks or something.

Congratulations on your new khukuri. It is a real birthday beaut. Let us know how it does after you put it through some paces, especially if it involves fighting orks. Yangdu sure knows how to take care of us.

Pretty sweet knife, ain't it, Heber:D

I got the 15.5" version, and I absolutely love it. If the weather and my work schedule cooperate, I'm supposed to head down to my mom and her fiance's cabin to help chop up and burn some stuff. THe ASTK is gonna be my weapon of choice:p

Happy belated birthday. Looks great.
After handling mine and doing a bit of chopping, I'd say the orcs in your neck of the woods are in for trouble. Enjoy :)

Great pictures, thank you for sharing
