Just finished this one:

It's my second cigar-box guitar, this one has an internally-mounted piezo pickup, oak neck and fingerboard, and has a bright (almost banjo-like) tone.

These are a lot of fun to make, and just as much fun to play. That's my little Danelectro "Honeytone" amp...20.00.

I have plans to build a banjo and may attempt a fiddle, even though I've never played one in my life.....

Cool. I tried to play guitar, but I guess I'm just not a musician.
They use similar things in the Suzuki violin method, sans string. It always really annoyed me to see my little brother strumming away at a box, making no noise. Just always annoyed me.
He didn't learn to play.

The make-your-own musical instrument scene is pretty cool, you can see some amazing things on YouTube. Plenty of footage of cigar-box players like Shane Spiel.

There's a guy that makes wonderful "steel drums" out of castoff propane tanks; they sound really nice.
Cigar-box fiddles, cookie-tin banjos...There's even a guy that makes stand-up basses out of those big plastic gas cans.
