Just picked this up last week. I was asking about them and nobody seemed to know much about it so I picked one up. :D She's a very nice, smooth folder. It has a "MattLock" A lock type I've never seem before but seems like a great idea. As far as I can tell its half a lock back, with a thumb stud through it. Its easy to use with either hand, very light and well balanced. Mad props to all that can photograph a knife decently! I took about 40 pics to get this one, and its by no means great. Any questions just ask!

Madame,

I am indebted to you for you tremendous benevolence, and am bowed by your awesome presence of character. Your actions exemplify the spirit of BladeForums, for which I am grateful. Should there ever be a way I can repay you for your bounteousness please don’t hesitate to enlighten me.

In other words, Thanks! :D

P.S. Yes, after a long day at work I am feeling a bit punchy.

futrdreams -

Get your checkbook out, and dont forget there's two "L's" in Danelle.

lol - glad to do it, bro.

Danelle - :D
Steve - Right now they are very hard to find. I got this one at Chesapeake Knife & Tool. I dont know if you have one around where you live or not. The manager there told me there were currently 48 Icons released, 12 of each insert type.(I dont know if this is true or not....) They had 3 of each instert spread out among all of their stores. I just got lucky to find this one. Several stores have pre-order forms on their sites, you may want to call them to see if they have any. Oh, from Chesapeake it was $425 w/ the snakewood inserts.

A search I did on William Henry Icon

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks!

Expensive items. I really think they are beautiful, and they certainly are unique, but what made you decide to go $400 into a production knife instead of looking for something from a custom knife maker?

What do you think of the Matt-lock? Is it an improvement, or just a redux of the lock-back?

Thanks in advance for anything you can tell me about these knives. I am seriously considering going whole hog for one of the pearl knives. Ouch.

Very nice knife. The Icon is my personal favorite production knife. It looks great with the Snakewood inlays.

Wow, I've been away from BladeForums too long w/ an open thread. Sorry guys.

KWM- I concur, sir!

Steve- I got the Icon mostly because it just grabbed me. For me it was greater than the sum of the parts. (Cheesy I know bt it did) I was in the store saw it, handled it for a couple min, said to myself better not, and went home. After thinking about it non-stop for a couple days and posting on BF to see if anyone had anything to say about this knife, I decided I HAD to have it. My first gentlemans folder if you will.

Mostly it fit a niche for me. I did handle a small sebbie in the store for comparison and the Icon just grabbed me more. A choice I can live w/.Carry is tip down, but because its in a sheath that doesnt really matter. I like the Matt-lock, it seems to be just as stong as any lock back, only its a tad lighter, and I feel easier to release. Even if you were (God-forbid) to carry it loose in your pocket it wouldnt open because of the lock. My next nice knife will probably be something from A.T. Barr, and probably not for a while. My wallet it still hurting! If you do get a Icon let us all know how you like it.

Oh one last thing go ALL out and get the Abalone! I just couldnt bring myself to go That far..
