Pictures are not that great but bad pictures are better than no pictures at all.

First impression ....... Thought it would be bigger and the handle is too big for my small hands.
Second impression ........ Quality is good and i bet i can do some serious work with this knife.

You could always sand or file some flats on the handle.

I am curious. With them side by side, do you still not consider your SP10 a Bowie? I like the Barkie better, but for all intents and purposes, they really ARE the same knife, fitting all of the exact same roles. Better materials and heat-treat, and in keeping with the uptick in price. The Bowie WAS considered by most to be a capable survival tool, as well as a formidable zombie de-animator....

I think its a bowie but not like Jim Bowies bowie. Its like how a 1903 car is still a car but not like todays car. The Marine Raider is an evolved design of the bowie.

I may send the Bark River Shining Mountain Bowie (BRSMB) back to them and pay a small fee if he will make the handle a tapered handle like on my Blackjack 125. I am going to wait to see if i like the modified handle on the 129 i am getting later in the week. May just keep it as is, i have to use it first to decide.

I have no regrets on the BRSMB. Its quality and better materials. I like it but i have to use it first and that may be awhile since i am always gone and when i am home i have to mow the lawn.

This is not a safe queen, it will be used and used well.

A knife that doesn't get used is a paperweight!

ALL modern Bowies of any configuration, are evolutions, or interpretations, of a design, and predicated on the notion that no one knows for certain what the original looked like.
I was going to suggest that BRK might be able to reduce the handle size for you, but it looks like you're already on that! I really do hope you like that one as a field knife. With the convex edge, it will work somewhat differently from the SP-10. Whether one outperforms the other is a matter for you, and your personal cutting technique, to decide. I prefer a convex, but I don't find a flat grind with a secondary bevel to be a handicap, especially when you can sharpen it on the bottom of a ceramic coffee mug.

Congrats! 'AT'S a knoife...

That is a huge knife, very cool! Gotta love stacked leather.
If the handles too big after some use, send it to Bark River, theyll fix you up.

They will shorten a handle? I figured with the specs one could figure out the handle length. I find the Black Jack Classic handles just a tad too long for me. But I still like the knives.

Definitely a carry in knife for the steak house.... protection against covid-19 or whatever else menaces your table.

I dont know that they can shorten a handle. They could in theory, theyd just have to remove the material (some leather washers, or saw some micarta off etc) and then cut the tang down, rethread it then reassemble. I dont think they would do that though, but it cant hurt to give them a call and ask. Maybe they will, or they will if you paid them a fee, I dont know. I sent a knife to them to round a squared handle that I found uncomfortable, and they did right by me.
I meant that they will thin the handle down if its too fat.

Don't know why I immediately thought "too long". But I guess with the number of Black jack classics I own, my thought process is biased. One knife(s) that the handles are too fat for me are the large Becker handles.... okay for chopping, but I wouldn't like to use the knife much for cutting other than occasional use.
