This is my first Bark River knife the Trail Buddy and I couldn't be more happy with it so far!!! Its also a first production run which I didn't know I was getting. I see myself with many more of these think Ill order Bushcrafter tonight!!!!!

Very nice. There's plenty of belly on that blade. Have you sharpened convex edges before?

No I haven't......I was hoping to do some research on sharpening and stropping one.....any advice? This is really my first ever fixed blade Ive always been folder guy but I have started hiking and wanted one.

There's some great videos on KSF. Sharpening Videos link at the top of their page.

Awesome knife you got :)

Nice knife ! I hear nothing but good things about Bark River although I don't have any "yet" myself .

I really should do something about that :D

.................................................
HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS !

Dang, I'm wondering how I haven't seen that one. Love the belly and the swedge combo. Nice grab

That would make a great field dressing / skinning / butchering blade. Really nice.

Thanks guys.....Ive been looking up info on the convex blades and how to sharpen them, it doesn't seem to be hard and I love stropping after use anyhow. Im already looking into my next Bark River thank it will be the 3V Ultra Lite Bushcrafter. Does anyone know how to break in a new sheath? is there a way to loosen it up some?

Looks a lot like a Marbels pattern. I'm sure you will enjoy it for a long time.

If you'll browse around on the KSF web site, there are some good vids on convex sharpening. Derrick has had some instructions on fire making, leather sheath break-in, etc. at different times in the past. In one of them, he shows you how to wet form a new sheath. You might email someone at KSF and ask if that info is still available. They recently reworked their web site and some stuff is off now that used to be there. MAKE SURE YOU PROTECT THE BLADE BEFORE YOU PUT IT IN A WET SHEATH!

Once you get into strops and convex sharpening, have a look at the stuff that HandAmerica puts out. I really like their balsa wood strop with diamond spray on it for the edges I like.

Very nice, I havent seen this model but I love the bravo series and plan to get one of them soon

Congrats on the Barkie. I also got my first for this past hunting season.

Gunny A2 nat can handle

It handled both deer wonderfully.

Beautiful knife, I definitely want to get my hands on a Bark River or three one day.

Be careful, they are addictive. I recently acquired, well, more than I would like to admit, several small BRKs, and I love them all.

Agreed - very addictive - because you're essentially getting a custom hand-made knife for a fraction of the cost of other custom knives.
I favor the Bravo-1 and Necker I/II. I also have several BlackJack models (they are also made by BRKT) - the Model 125, aka "heavy hunter," is a particular favorite of mine.

Btw, check out Virtuovice on YouTube for tons of reviews of BRKT's and BlackJacks! Lots of good info there....

Only problem I have with Bark River knives is they are so purdy I'd hate to mark them up. Closet queens only for those babies. Kinda like using a Mercedes SLK to pull out tree stumps. Just something WRONG about that. :p

Im having a problem.....I bought this trail buddy to take hiking with me and Ive been out twice and cant bring myself to take it!!!! its such a beautiful knife I dont want to mark it up!!! Maybe when the new wears off that wil change because Im ordering a Ultra Lite Bushcrafter today or tomorrow once I do some shopping

"In the dark corner of his basement, where his knife collection resided, Gollum hunched over his worktable, holding his Bark River bushcrafter under the light of a flickering candle, fondling it gently and crooning over and over again, "My precioussssssssssss"......." :D
