I just got my new GEC barlow, and it's beautiful :) This is my first high quality slipy. I am very happy with it, and it makes me feel classy ;) I do have an old barlow(unknown maker) I picked up at an antique shop that I kinda fell in love with, and that's what prompted me to get a really nice one. I think this will be my at work sheeple friendly folder.

Yes the springs are pretty tight. I don't have much experience with traditionals but this one feels pretty tight. I think it's 3 inches maybe a little shorter. Its not a big knife, and a bit smaller than I thought but I love it.

Great looking GEC Barlow but I gotta say there isn't anything wrong with the older Barlow you have.

Jealous. I have to wait for mine till Christmas.

Is that the burnt orange?

No there isn't anything wrong with the other one. It does have a piece of one of the scales missing and it's pretty weathered but I think it adds patina you can't buy. I just wanted to start fresh with so when I hand it down to my kids I can show them what it looked like new.

I'm not sure if it's the burnt orange, the sticker on the package says jigged orange.

Nice. I really like the orange-ish colored scales. Whether it be harvest/pumpkin/orange.

I've got one with "golden rod jigged bone" maaagnifficent.
cheers
