I'm not generally a big traditional guy. I have three that I carry from time to time. An old Imperial Boy Scout knife, a buck creek whittler and a Vic Farmer (does it even count as a "traditional"?)

I've owned a couple Rough Rider slip joints in the past. A Trapper and a Doctors knife. I was really impressed with the build quality of the knives for the price.

Anyway, I'll cut to the chase. Yesterday I received two Rough Rider Grand Daddy Barlows. One in white bone and one in brown bone. I'm really impressed with the knives over all. The mirror finish on the blades is very nice, with no imperfections. The over all fit of the parts is very good, all scale pins are flush, scales are flush, bolster/scale fit is perfect etc. The only issue I see is the small gap between the brass liners and the spring, as seen in the pics. The blade feels secure when opened and has a nice strong half stop. The spring is flush when the blade is closed, nearly flush at half stop and flush when open, both knives are the same in this respect. Aside from the slight gap on the back of the knives, my only issue is how easily scratched the bolsters are.
I forgot to mention how sharp the edges came. They would shave when they arrived. I gave each about 5 licks each side on a ultra fine rods and now they are both absolutely hair popping.

Here are some pics.

Those look very nice. I just got some Rough Riders myself and have a thread going over here too. I'll be watching yours.

Nice knives. The only thing that gives away their low price is the stamped shield-- I wish they had left that off. I have a couple dozen RRs and they sure do come sharp!

I think I prefer the white bone not only because the white looks to sharp, but because they left the shield off on that one.
