It arrived today. I came home from a 12hr shift and there it was on the dining room table. The handle is the exact size of my closed fist. I couldn't have made it fit better if I made it myself. The weight is right on, and the sheath is the best one I have ever had. There is more rust on it than I thought there would be, but that doesn't matter because I plan on bluing the blade. I want to use Wonder Blue, so it's going to take me awhile. The bluing kit is almost as much as the knife was! I'm going to leave the Sword of Shiva untouched.

The reason that I know this knife is meant for me is because <on a whim> I ran the chakma down the blade and after a few strokes there was a burr, where before there was only buterknife like sharpness. This has NEVER worked for me, EVER!

Thank you Uncle for giving us the oppertunity to buy these pieces of steel. I know that you take part in running a business to support your family, but to me H.I. has always been so much more than that. I literally grew up here. I was 17 when I first read this board and now at 22 with a daughter of my own, I hope I can pass on to her the value of steel and some of the knowledge I've learned here. When I draw the straw that leads me to the sand box this is the blade that will go with me. I'm not a fighter, I'm a mechanic, but having this khuk may just save my life when the next Khobar Towers happens. As always its been great. Thanks again guys.

Sounds like a sweet Khukuri. If you do ship out, I hope you don't need it as a silent partner.;) But if need be, may it serve you well. BTW You should bring it to the Konvention with you.:D

VHD, when you read the thread about the Shop #1 WW2, and get to the point where I say I never had a BAS that was special to me, that's only me!!!.

UB says that the khukuris choose their owners. Can't say I believe or disbelieve that happens. Can say it seems awful suspicious.

I got all of the rust off in about 15 minutes with my dremel running at 30,000 rpm's and using a hard cotton bit and polishing compound. Now I just need to go over it slowly again to polish it out. There is still pitting, but who cares. Freckles on her chest just make her more attractive. :) Now I just need to find someone to put a scary edge on her!

What fits Rusty does not neccesarily fit munk.

My Bas handle was a little small for me- I took the corners off the handle and it worked well.

It is neat when something arrives in your life and finds a home.

I know you can do it! Try a round crock stick or a round DMT sharpener.

I have a "his and hers BAS" a good pair.

If you go to the "sand box" I hope you never have to use your new found love, but if you must, move fast and be deliberate no hesitation, not for a split second!;)
