All in all it's a solid little knife. I had recently sold an Elmax Blur as I was getting too comfortable with that knife. The Kershaw Blur is a lot like the Spyderco Delica which is a lot like a Buck 110 and a host of other knives that can serve as perfect EDC's or "if you only had one all around" folding knife what would that knife be? Fill in the _________. Knives like the 110, trappers, small Sebenza, mini-grips make for great EDC's.

I am still having a love/hate relationship with my large Starbenza which I got over the winter. It's an awesome knife that I don't feel comfortable carrying around anywhere in the suburbs of NJ or NYC. It's such an awesome knife when you first get open it, the first thing anybody I imagine says is holy cow, CRK crammed a whole lot of blade into that handle of the large! At least that's what I was thinking to myself. About 3.6" worth! I broke my edc rule when I got the large Sebenza. I hate to say it but I was mesmerized by the overall package. It's a great knife that sits in my drawer unless I go hiking, camping or am in my yard, a 3.6" blade is just too much blade to have around for the light duties that I normally do.

Anyhow the Camber fits this niche really well. It's slim, the handle gives you a solid purchase to manipulate the blade for most hand sizes. Ergonomically the Blur is a little bigger and more comfortable in hand. But the compactness of the Camber in having a slightly shorter blade, thinner scales, a designed in choil and no trak grip or whatever they call that material underneath the deep carry clip really is an improvement over the Blur. The Camber is a standalone flipper and I do wish it had the Blur's angled thumbstuds as well. But anyway I'm not complaining. Going to give the Camber a go for a few months for fun and see how it does. It came close to butterknife dull btw, a first for me and Kershaw knives of which I've had the Skyline, Skyline fixed, Blur and Leek which were all razor sharp out of the box. It only took a few minutes to take a little extra steel off the edge of the Camber and it went from butterknife dull to shaving sharp thanks to the sharpmaker.

Immediately I know I don't like it as much as the Blur, the Camber is "cute" like the Skyline and supposedly an improvement over the Blur which feels like a really stout and hand filling compact knife. If you have a Blur though the Camber is redundant and the same going the other way. I can definitely see myself getting another Blur by the end of summer though. The Camber is a solid if I had only one folder EDC but I don't know yet if I would give it the props the way I would a Delica, 110 or Blur.

I might not be giving it enough credit though as it passes all of my tests right off the bat. Does it have solid edge geometry and blade shape? Check! Do I have any issue throwing it in my pocket and going to the supermarket or the gas station? No. Check! Will I use the snot out of it and not care, thus having it serve the purpose of being a knife and cutting instrument? Yes. Check!

Will see how it goes in a few months I guess! What I find the most amusing though is when I first got into the knife hobby, the Delica, Blur and 110 three of the most loved EDC's under a $100 were my least favorite knives. A few years later they've turned into my favorite knives because of how useful, compact and ergonomic they are. Locking folder that can just be carried everyday without much fuss. My Starbenza has this weird affect on me, I have to stare at it first before I stick it in my pocket. It's stupid but I do it almost every time. Whereas the other folders I don't think twice about and will use them anytime, pocket them anytime.

Anyway, here's some pics of the Kershaw Camber.

I agree with you.

There's something about a knife you use with abandon because you aren't worried about screwing up the edge on a $300 knife.

I EDC a spyderco manix 2 factory 2nd that I paid $25 for (at the sale). Love carrying it because I can use it and not care. Whereas my ZT stays in the closet because I paid 5x that for it and I don't want to lose my investment. Sure, the ZT can "take it" but that's not really the point. Right now I can sell it for close to what I paid. Once I scratch the blade once, I lose $25 or more. Even if I sold the spyderco, I'd still take much less of a $ hit, no matter what I sell it for. Even $5.

I love that you took the knife pic with a box of girl scout cookies!! You my friend, have all of your priorities in order.

With you there 100% knives are tools and gotta be used!

We get a little out of hand with the girls scout cookies. My wife has a soft spot for tagalongs which I don't like at all. On the other hand I can't resist thin mints right out of the freezer! I mixed it up this time around and am glad I did!

Got my Camber as soon as they were released. It is one very impressive compact EDC knife! The blade, like every Kershaw I have ever bought, was shaving sharp out of the box. Rock solid lock up zero blade play. The stone washed finish is very well done. The spring tension of the assisted opener is easy and even from closed to lock up. Blade is perfectly centered. I read about how the Camber is supposed to be an offshoot of the Blur but I have 7 Blurs and I just dont see or feel it. What it does look like and function like is the Piston. Love my Piston. The Camber looks like and feels like a mini-Piston which is of course just fine as the Piston is freaking outstanding. Now if I could just figure out what is starting to wear an arc shaped groove into the presentation side of the blade without having to take it apart Id be set

I'm thinking about getting rid of my Camper because for three straight month it took most of my pocket and I still have it out . Love the knife but i want to give other knives a try But with it there I reach out for the camber . I deassited the knife and it flips great . I recommend the ZT 0770 I have one in carbon fiber and one aluminum that I haven't used just because the camber .

I also want to say that I agree with you 100% on the large sebenza . I bought a large micarta and it sit in the box . Living in Jersey is not easy when you like knives .:(

It's for reasons exactly like this that I'm pretty content with my Lansky Responder X9, Kudu, Eland and host of other cheap-but-surprisingly-high-quality knives. Buy it for cheap, use it without hesitation.

Its definitely a standalone for me and not Blur-ish at all. It almost feels like a chubby Skyline minus the awful clip and the useless extra handle material at the end. It's very similar in feel to a mini grip as well except the trac tec, gotta Google what that stuff is called allows for a better grip on the scales.

I want to get a ZT but it's that same issue with the large Sebenza. When I have an option like a Blur or Camber, I know that I wouldn't be better off with a ZT even though it's the better knife.

So, what was the question? If it's what's your beater, my answer is a Case large Sodbuster. (Currently)

I know why you've been carrying g it so much. In jeans or slacks it's so thin it disappears. You absolutely don't even notice that it's there.

I had almost gone for an AGR Ti Gentlemen Framelock for this same reason. It might be my next knife order unless I pick up one of those cool Kahr Delica's that are circulating around.

Love to see an XL version in a 3.5" or larger blade. Looks like a solid, affordable knife.

When the Camber was first announced, I fell in love with the first pics I saw, whether Photoshop mockups or actual photos. Waited forever for them to ship and pounced on one right away. I have never cared for the Blur in any of its many variations, but the Camber was immediately a favorite of mine . . . yet I never carry it. For that matter, I rarely dig very deep into my EDC rotation anymore, ignoring several knives (Camber, Cryo, ZT0770, Hogue EX03, others) and instead reaching for the One Ton that sort of snuck up on me to become my go-to work knife.

No regrets about buying the Camber, and I would choose it over numerous other knives when dressing up because I think it's a damned fine looking knife that disappears in my pocket. Like others, I would like to see a larger version, and a blackwashed or black DLC version would be very cool too, but I'm not going to kid myself about needing it for EDC.
