Its here!
My wife had purchased a BK-16 for me as a late Christmas present a few weeks back. Its a wonderful blade and is deserving of the praise it gets and more! But, I had another true love. The BK-17. I just love a clip point. They remind me of the first fixed I ever had as a kid. My Grandfather is from Ireland and he gave me an old, unnamed 5" clip point that had a stag-horn handle. He said he got it from his father in Ireland in the 20's. With permission from my wife, I asked if I could trade my BK-16 in for a BK-17. She agreed and I posted on the forums. I had several PMs directing to Dex's site and that he often takes trades. I emailed him about my situation and within an hour, he had emailed me back saying that he was interested and we could work out something for sure. After sending some pictures, I even got a call from Dex, just to make sure everything was set, I was happy, and to get all the details. We even chatted a good 15 minutes about where we're from and other knife related stuff. You can't beat customer service like this. I will happily give my future business and all future recommendations to Dex's store.
After getting all the details situated, I sent out my knife for the trade and he sent me a beautiful BK-17 with all the Becker logos laser etched into the blade. And some stainless steel screw set for the scales. Plus, a hand written "thank you" note. All of this within done with a week. Amazing. He is a wonderful person to conduct business with. He genuinely cares about getting you what you want.
The BK-17 is truly my favorite knife of all time. Its perfect for bushcraft services and as long as you're not trying to pry a steel hatchway open on a naval vessel, the tip is solid as a rock for any of my needs. And it just has a sentimental feel as it reminds me of my old clip point that I have since retired. I have to work tomorrow from early in the morning, until late at night, otherwise I'd be out first thing using my new 17. Gotta shake all that "new" off the blade.
Now, some pictures (Taken with my cellphone. Please forgive the quality.):
