so my new BK 12 showed up today. Got it just before supper so I didn't have time to try it out but I did put on a set of micarta and this blade feels awesome in the hand. I will take a run in the utv on Friday so I'll take it and put it to some use. I'll post more pics then but for now here it is.

cheers...

I think teamed with the 9 or the 4 it will be a hard combo to beat. Toss in a necker and your gold...if only I was big enough to use the 16 as a neck knife lol

Man the more pics of the 12 I see the more I want one... Nice one, enjoy your new steel.

Congrats man. I have eyed that one down several times, but never pulled the trigger.

OK, for you on the fence (and until WN can get some pics up of his baby), you're not missing anything, really......;)

WN - Welcome to the club! That would be the "Beckerheads who know" club. I lve my 12 and have to admit if it came right dwn to it, I'd probably choose the 12 over the 9. It's THAT AWSOME!

So glad I live in 'MERICA where such choices are not required. :D

Edit: wow, 10 hour double post. New record?

That looks sweet. Congrats on the new steel. I'm looking forward to seeing that girl all dirty after wrastlin' in the mud. :)

Where does one buy a BK12? How am I going to decide I don't need one unless I can see who is selling them and how much they cost?

Love the "12"...and this thread has me thinking that I should have one more, as a spare.

If you don't have one get one and a 710 sheath. It's easily my favorite Becker set up.

I watched a somewhat strange video last night: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LwHss0l470

Virtuvoice in Japan reviews (eventually) 4 knives, one of which is the RSK MK2, aka the BK12. I should have watched some Youtube videos before I ordered the BK12 but how was I to know, until Zakjak told me that the BK12 was really an RSK MK2 and hiding out in a single Knife seller so that very few people would be able to find it and possibly buy it. Fortunately the videos I watched were consistent with the comments I read on this thread. :D

Virtuvoice's review interested me because he favored the RSK MK2 because he was going into bear country in the near future and Japanese law prohibits the carrying of fire arms or any knife with a blade longer than 6 inches. Bears are protected in Japan but apparently a person can protect himself as long as he doesn't use a gun or a knife with a blade longer than 6 inches. Virtuvoice was confident that he would be okay as long as he carried the RSK MK2; which is sort of what I was looking for in my quest of a knife (which soon became "knives" :D ) which would allow me to deal with any critters coming down from the mountains during our current drought.

If I could I'd ask Virtuvoice whether if he could take a BK7 rather than a BK12 whether he would. He seemed to have some knife-fighting training and liked the way the BK12 handled once the little brass weights were removed. As to his demonstration it was just about chopping and he didn't think the BK12 was a very good chopper, but he loved it anyway because he was going into bear country. :D
