Hey everyone, I recently posted asking how everyone like their dodos and decided to finally get one. Today It came in the mail with no box and pretty gunked up with dust and light rust. The lock was jamming, sounded gritty when opening, and was overall pretty dull.

I just finished taking it apart, scrubbing all the parts, stropping, and oiling everything and WOW! This knife is like new and is now the smoothest knife in my collection. It swings free when I depress the lock, and locks up rock solid in all directions. The blue G-10 pops against the newly polished satin hardware and blade, and the blue is much richer now that i scrubbed it.

The design itself is very comfy in my hands, (I'm about 5'11" and wear a medium glove). It also carries very deep in the pocket and is comfy because of how slim the handles are!

Overall Great knife, and at first I was disappointed but now I love it!

Great find! Welcome to the Dodo fan club. It looks like the point is in good shape, which is everything on this model. Most times, people who treat them poorly will blow the tip right off of them.

Nice looking knife. I've haven't had much luck with Dodos as being very functional but man they are good looking knifes and the ergos are perfect.

I hope yours serves you well.

While it may not be my 1st choice to cut a wedding cake, it is for things like those heavy clear blister packs
things are now sold in. As well as opening box's & every day things. Also in reverse grip is quite amazing.
Couldn't find a photo of my CF model. The P/E black one was one of the most elusive Spyderco's to track down (for me anyway).
They were selling for big bucks, but have settled down some with the Orange and CF release.
Eric nailed this one. And as I recall it was one of if not his 1st designs.

Great looking knife. Looks pretty capable. The carbon fiber run has been calling me but the price tag has not.

I find that this knife screams to be used in the choked up grip with index finger in the choil and the thumb on the spine. It is like a perfect extension of the thumb resulting in a very useful "human claw". Unfortunately, in this grip, the handle is just the wrong size for my hand! The middle gap is too large (or too small) and my pinkie sits right on the back ridge. Because of this, the ergonomics were really disappointing for me. I hear many others rave about the ergos which seems odd since I have pretty average sized hands. Am I the only one who has this issue with the dodo?? It is a knife that I wanted very badly to love but it just wasn't to be. :(

My pinky also lands on that ridge when i put my thumb on the spine and choke up. However it does not bother me when my thumb is behind the spider hole and hand is farther back on the handle, even with my thumb in the choil.

Yes, my experience is the same. It just bothered me because I favored using the knife with my thumb forward. Sorry, I'm not trying to go bubble bursting. It is a super cool design and mine still gets carried everyday! Just by my girlfriend instead of me. She LOVES the thing! Haha. I finally had to just give it to her, which is fine since I get to see it being carried and enjoyed everyday. :)
