After MONTHS of waiting, my BM 42 arrived yesterday from NorthwestCutlery.com!!!

I have to say, this is the ULTIMATE balisong. I love my BM 45, but the weight and balance of this one is incredible! I am VERY impressed and I can't wait until my second one arrives for some 2 handed work!

My 42 does not have a production number on it though. It has the butterfly logo on one side and Benchmade USA on the back, but no production number. My only speculation is that this is the second production run?

As I expected, there are a few minor finishing flaws. Two of the smaller holes are not completely rounded out, they are a small rectangle shape, and on of the bigger holes is not completely rounded out. Performance has not been affected by these problems though.

I will post pics and a full review on my website shortly.

Excellent news. This means that we're now in regular production. That means that there are now over 700 pieces out there.

I noticed the same thing on the one I got (440/500) about the hole not being rounded out. I thought it was messed up from being on display too long.

700+ pieces done...........

Whooo Hooo, that means they only have to do about 3,000 more to catch up with the Back orders.

Damn Chuck, I guess everyone will have one soon and we won't be so special anymore

Mine just has the logo too no numbers.I haven't found any finishing flaws on my 42.I guess the only thing I noticed was the loops on back of the sheath one would use to wear horizontally are a little narrow for use with any belt that is bigger than dress pants belt. The vertical loops would accomadated a wide belt.I still found the quality of the knife and sheath very impressive for what it cost.We need an additional club though, those who have one,but are waiting for another club.
