What happens when you take the day off work and travel to Fairbury NE to hang out with Bryan Breeden? When I did it I got a cool new knife.
After talking about design and use.
He did a little cutting

Then some grinding

So far

Some more grinding and heat treat

After lunch and talking about everything from knives to the Marines to politics and TV.
Add some handles and pants.

I have enough paracord on the sheath to make a bow for a bow drill, make a lanyard , strap it to a pack or wear it horizontal on my belt.( a little long for that)
Bryan used a solid 7/16 rod for the center pin then dished it out to make the “Breeden divot” ( patient pending ):)
Works well

It chops and splits better than most 5/23” thick 4 ¾ long blades.

Cuts shaving great

the edge comes close the handle for greater control.

The spine is squared for scraping wood and works great on a fire steel

The handle is 4 ¾ with the exposed tang . A little longer then I wanted at first but good to have if used with gloves or mittens.

The squirrels on my hike approved.

I am not of the one knife for everything school but for me this is about as good as it gets.
I’m even feeling OK about the pending zombie / vampire apocalypse.

Tessa is hot, it'nt she?

Good looking knife. The blade shape and the edge coming all the way back to the handle are very nice.

Very nice! Bryan makes some awesome tools. That lined socket in the handle is such an inovative and original idea. Great job on that one, Bryan!

Thanks for sharing. That's a great looking knife.

Bryan makes great knives and is a great person too.

Hi all,

Thanks for the kind words. It was a pleasure to have you come to the shop and hang out and make your knife up.
You took some really cool pics of Tessa. As she was being made and when you got her back home and started to use
her too.
The curls on your fuzz stick are really nice and curly. Great job.
Glad to hear the squirrles approved too lol.
The notches really look clean and crisp.
Looks like the bow drill practice worked out great for ya.

Chris thanks for the Breeden Divit name too:thumbup:. About 2 months back I was making another knife and as I
making it up I was thanking about how I wanted to have a divit in the handle but did not want to drill one in to the
handle material like I had on some other knives. I was looking through my tool box at the shop and came across
some 3/8" nickle sliver rod I used to use in making up the sparky knives for Going Gear.com and that is when the thought hit me to make my center pin bigger and then drill out it out to make it into a friction free divit.
It really works great for that.
So if any of you guys that practice the bow drill and want a divit in the handle and do not want a hole in the handle material see about having that knife maker of your choice put in a bigger solid pin and then have it drilled out some.
It really is a easy to do and have done. I have a couple of knives I am going to redrill and put in a bigger solid pin
and put the Breeden Divit in as Chris calls it.

That bigger knife that I am holding that has no handles is one I started about 3 or 4 years back and have not finished it yet. Chris was looking around the shop and saw it and said what is the deal with this one. I told him the story and then he took a pic of it.

Anyways all, again thanks for the kind words about Chris's knife Tessa and the kind words said about me.

Bryan

" looking around " you could say that. Knives in different stages of production everywhere. I couldn't help but check them out.
Thanks all.

Very cool. I would love to be able to do that someday - it's like build-a-bear for knife enthusiast lol

That's a really nice looking blade,I received a 6/12 from Bryan a little while ago I was so impressed with it, I ordered a neck knife to match.Top notch craftmanship.

Thanks for posting the knife building pics! The talent involved in making that knife is mind blowing. I really like that style blade. Great design.

It was a bit like that.
Took another walk today with my new knife. No pic's just a short walk looking around.
