First of all, I haven't yet sorted out my picture posting issue, but I WILL be adding pics here soon. So please don't flog me.

I came home from work today to find a fed-up package on my porch. Hooray, it's my new knife! I have wanted one of these since they first came out, and I finally pulled the trigger and ordered one straight from Buck.

I have read multiple comments and reviews about this knife, and a lot of complaints about the lockback being hard to close. I opened my new treasure with that satisfying "CLICK" (Love that sound), looked it over, and attempted to close it. It was very stiff at first, to the point it made my thumb sore from the pressure. I have fairly strong hands, as I have earned a living with them all of my adult life. But I worked the blade open and closed several times (fidgeting with it for about an hour after supper) and now it is a lot easier to work. The opening action is smooth, I really don't need the thumb studs at all.

Fitment, adjustment, and blade centering are all very good. The blade is ground evenly. It does seem to sit in the handle at a slightly different position than my classic 110 does, like the pivot is further away from the back. But it sits flush when open.

So far I am very pleased with my new companion. I am by no means an expert, I hope to become more so from being a member here. I just wanted to share my experience and opinion, for what its worth. I will update as possible.

Two side notes I noticed while comparing my 110 sport to my classic 110:

1. The size and shape of the handle on the sport is very familiar and comfortable. The weight will take some getting used to, as it is noticeably lighter. Not a bad thing really. The textured micarta adds a nice firm grip.

2. The pocket clip, when holding the knife open in my hand, is noticeable but not cumbersome. I've grown fond of carrying my work knife clipped to my pocket. It is more accessible, and doesn't scratch my handle up from change, etc.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading. Questions/comments welcome.

With the current levels of economic stress imposed on all of us, it's good to know that we can rely on each other for encouragement to Do the Right Thing.
And, of course, the right thing is to buy the knife. I just bought a bunch of Case buffalo-horn pocketknives. Sshhh. My wife knows that I have knives but she has no idea how many :)
