Hello

Yesterday I just recived my new Buck/Mayo TNT 172... but I was expecting a lot of marks in the blade:

According with what I had read here... the blade sould be marked with Tom Mayo logo (encircled), and the word Buck beneath... also, a logo of Paul Boss from heath treating, anb I was expecting also some S30V indication...

But it only has the Mayo/Buck little logo (a bit chessy; seems painted on), and nothing else... is something wrong with my knife... or is just the way there are made now ?

Mine was made in January /2006, according to the tag in the box... if it means something.

Thanks.

No circle M with Buck below it...how much did you pay for the knife ,if you don't mind .

Sorry, my mistake... it actually has the little M encircled and the BUCKword beneath it... but not any sign of Boss logo or S30V mark

I paid around $ 160 for it... at Best Knives.com (online). It also comes with a warranty form Buck and a little black plastic display box, custom formed.

Thanks

Seems as if you got a deal on the knife ...$304.00 list....Bos logo is usually on the opposite side of the Buck logo looks like a flame..S30V is the only blade steel listed for the 172 in Bucks 2006 catalog: model 172B catalog # 5457 possible not stamped S30V.Picture just shows circle M ,BUCK below it .

Well... It's just the price they listed in their site... seems a good deal to me.

I've look for the Bos logo in all the balde, but there isn't any on mine... strange, isn't it ?

Here is mine. I purchased it back in February.

I believe that Buck acquired the Bos operation. Since it is Buck now, perhaps this led them to drop this logo. I don't think this is a big deal though. I know you expected it and, it is a bit of a dissapointment. However, there is no value lost and in short order you won't think about it anymore. It might be worth calling Buck to confirm that current iterations do not have this logo for peace of mind.

Nope... definitely there isn't any mark on the back of the blade. Not even an S30V indication.... maybe is just an error or missing in the production.

Your'e right, not a big deal at all... the more that I handle it; the more that I understand why it's so well recomended by everyone.

I must admit that I wasn't very impressed when I received it at first. But now, just a couple days past; I started to like it a lot more... especially now that I've touched the edge... and I'm plannig in little mods for it..

Thanks for answer !... regards.

Rosh,

Paul Bos posted over on the Buck part of these forums today. Head over there and ping him if you like. Or, post your question to him there. I would like to know the answer myself, as I am sure others here would as well. He stated that he replies to questions in his post (regarding the Buck and Strider relationship: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=408395

The TNT has really been a delight for me. I carried and used it so much that the flame and Bos imprint is becoming vague. Love that knife and stand in awe of Buck, Mayo and Bos. I consider myself very lucky to own such a terrific tool. It sets a high standard against which I measure all other knives.

Best,

oregon

Check the link , it sounds exactly like yours. No need to worry. You bought a sound great looking blade that will out live you and me both!:)
Enjoy in the cleanliness of the blade, don't you just hate when blades look like advertisements for celebrities? I sure do...Steven Segal pops to mind real fast. The makers mark is always good enough for me. I know what I bought and time will record the exact blade wording. For me less is better, enjoy your beautiful blade sir!

Best regards, Daddy
